More clues to follow.

Perhaps he was diabetic and someone had poisoned his injection... or maybe someone had put cyanide in his toothpaste...
These puzzles of yours are not so great, as there could be any number of explanations that fit the facts. You are asking us to find the one you happen to be thinking of.

The poison was mixed with DMSO and put on a piece of his clothing, maybe his hat or in his shoes.

But if I SUBJECTIVELY gave the "yes, that's it!" to every good guess, then almost every body would win, and what then would be the point of the puzzle? What would be the point of "competing" to come up with the answer? Indeed , what would be the point of me even having a specific answer in mind? See what I'm saying? As it is, I remain very objective, and wait for the answer as I myself have learned the puzzle. If you don't feel the puzzles are so great, why bother yourself with participating? Your obviously a very intelligent man with marvelous lateral thinking abilities, (as demonstrated by your imaginative answers.) and you need not waste your brain power, and your time with my little trifles. Myself, because of personal circumstances in my life which I'm not at liberty to disclose, have much time to "kill" in my life. Some would even go so far as to say that I need to "get a life". But, oh well. Anyway, please remember, Steve, didn't author the puzzles. I have simply picked them up verbatim from other sources. I"m not "smart enough" to create these on my own, and the answer I am seeking in each case, is the answer as taught to me for each individual puzzle. For me to accept another answer other than the "target answer" and say it is the one I am seeking, would be tantamount to lieing! But if someone gets a bulls-eye, then I will be the first, as I have in MANY cases so far, to say "Yes!" "That was it!" I'm a fair person, or at least I consider myself so.

Someone poisoned the glue on the back of his postage stamps. When he licked a stamp to put it on an envelope, he ingested the poison and died.
