Hi Guys, I was wondering, does anyone know who made the cups on the front of 'Dai Vernons Inner Card Trilogy'?
are they the porper cups? I was just curious. In Magic Steve Dela |

Yup, and I believe the thimbles to the left of his business card are also by Porper.

I was going to say no, because Harry Stanley made a set of cups to sell when Vernon came over to England to do the tour. These look like the Porper cups, but there are differences. However, I decided to check my copy of the Inner Secrets Trilogy and realized that my copies don't have pictures on the covers. None of the originals did. They had either paper covers or buckram covers with no photo. The dust jackets were thin paper, with no photo. So the photo could be of just about any set of cups.
But I can tell you how to tell the difference. The Porper cups have three rings -- one at the mouth, one at the shoulder, and one that is halfway in between. The Stanley/Unique cups are a little different. The middle ring is closer to the shoulder ring than it is to the mouth ring. If you want to see the difference between the two styles, go to the cups and balls museum http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.com and look at the two different sets of cups. Then you can compare them to the ones in the photo.

A recent Genii article about Mr. Porper mentioned his cups and thimbles being on the cover, if I recall properly.

Straight from Mr Porper's website:
"These were the cups chosen to adorn the cover of the Vernon Chronicles (...)." http://www.porperoriginals.com/cups_main.htm So there is at least one work about Vernon's magic which bears Porper cups on the cover. The website does not mention the picture on the Card Trilogy, though. Tilman |

Porper still has a few sets of cups left, in various finishes from copper to wood.
