I'm about to get a Bose L1 system for my show, but am curious about music control systems w/remotes. MediaStar? Audio Ape? Cue Command? Other?
Please share any advice you might have on the system you use or have experience with. Thanks in advance! |

I use the "Go Button" app on a dedicated iPod with the Audio Ape Remote with a stereo DI to bring it to XLR connections. You can certainly use it on your phone but I don't like to have that tied up in case of any emergencies so I prefer a dedicated playback unit. It has served me very well in everything from small intimate shows to full theater performances. I am in Paris now touring through Europe and it is a solid piece of my kit. I just add a converter for the power supply and ask for 2 XLR's back stage and I'm good to go. I do have a 2" velcro strip on the back of my iPod and on both sides of the Audio Ape remote that keeps everything tidy. Small, elegant and powerful!

Like Ray, I use the Audio Ape Remote with a dedicated iPod. I will be switching to Go Button when my current app, OneTrack, no longer works. (The developer of OneTrack is no longer updating the app and it is no longer available.) I, also, use a DI to have XLR connection. I've used a number of remote systems over the years and the Audio Ape is my favorite. (I don't have experience with Cue Command, which I think is no longer available, nor MediaStar.)

Adding another vote for AudioApe with GoButton. GoButton has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's fantastic. It gives you SO many options. And being that its developed by the QLabs people (which is widely used on Broadway and throughout theatres), there's lots of support for it.

I'm using both GoButton and Qlab with the Media Monkey. (by audio ape... the only difference is that it works with iOS AND the Mac.)
Love it! GoButton is awesome once you learn it.
