Hello all,
I've looked into this before, but now six to eight months later, things have surely changed. However, I'm moving to Las Vegas and wondering what the conditions are like for street performers now. Is anyone actively performing on Fremont? I've read some regulations posted saying it is allowed as long as the performer is masked and does not touch anyone, etc. But are there Magicians actually performing? Also, are there any active Magician groups/clubs that are meeting now? Any info or names to contact would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Eldini |

Freemont is and has been regulated. It's an email lottery and if you are called, you get a two hour window to perform at whatever marked location you win. You have to leave sa soon asa your time id up because another performer will have to start their show in that spot after you.
The strip is out of the question, unless you aare an act that doesn't attract a crowd. The Linq is your best bet, contact Melanie Kramer. Her agency books the street performers at the linq promenade. Even though you've got this info, right now, it is constantly in a state of change because of the china virus Hope that helps. |

Once the vaccine starts, would be a good time to head out there.

I went to Vegas a few years ago. (Promised my wife, I'd take her to the Circe Solei "Beatles" show.)
I did meet a street performer named Matthew and his mentor (whose name I never got) in front of the MGM Grand. They said it was very difficult performing on the Strip. Among other things, they were banned from entering the MGM Grand for any reason whatsoever. Seemed harsh to me.

Yeah, seems to me the Fremont St. Experience is the best bet for busking. Haven't been down to the strip to try it, but have heard a few stories like yours.

I'll keep that in mind should I ever get the chance to busk in Vegas... don't hold your breath.

I've worked Fremont Street for a few days in December and January.
Yes there is magicians performing. On a weekend you'll see 5 or more. Chris randall, sean scott, a gazzo student, George an OG card technician, gazzo himself was there for a week recently. Fremont Street is packed right now. The only difference now is the mask wearing. Besides that, it's a tough pitch, very loud music, bright lights... It'll test the strongest performers. At the same time it's an easy money pitch, as long as you get a good spot on the lottery and the right time slot. |

I hate freemont as a pitch....too loud and too bright, I want them to hear me. I was in ages 10 years ago and worked the strip and was making really nice money... If you cant work the strip for me theres no reason to work vegas.

Another question arises; how much money can you make in a "two-hour" window?

For me, so far, not much money on the few times I've been down there. I'm going to try and hit it a few days this week and will report back. As others have mentioned, it is really loud at night when the spots are available via lottery. Maybe going earlier when all the spots are 'first come first serve' is better as it is not as loud? I don't have a microphone, most magicians down there do. That would help, I'm just not in the position to buy one right now.
I think there is money to be made down there. My act just needs work. My goal is to work on gathering a larger crowd before I begin and making sure I get in my money lines along the way. |
