I got a quick response today from Johnson:
Cal, Covid 19 hit us hard. We have not been able to get back to normal on our magic yet. Our website was being upgraded just before all this happened. When we do get back we will not be accepting any special orders for awhile. You can always check back with me later to see how it's going. I'm so sorry for any inconvenience. Same here, I had sent some coins in back in March of 2020 for custom work and Kathy just sent them back with this message:
------------------ Hi Curt, Just a heads up I'm returning your coins. I don't feel comfortable holding them any longer. I don't have an estimate when we will start making our magic again. When we do we will be catching up our line, but it will be a slow process. Feel free to contact me after the first of the year. Hopefully I will know more by then. I'm so sorry for any inconvenience. Kathy Lawton Johnson Products ------------------- Hopefully they can bounce back! |

Can't even find their site now. I fear they are a thing of the past.

Interesting. The one I had saved was the top level
https://www.johnsonmagicproducts.com/ but it's now broken because flash has been discontinued. I hadn't even realized their site used it still, but that's something that's been coming for so many years it shouldn't have taken them by surprise. Odd that the some parts are normal and others are not. Definitely sad to see the slow decline, if so. |

Bummer. I wished they found a way to start production back up. I've got quite a collection of their products and have been looking to expand. It doesn't appear as much is left out there.

It would be nice if somehow a list could be put together indicating magic dealers who still hold unsold (“new old stock”) Johnson Products items in their inventory — if any.
Under the circumstances, it seems like dealers who still have any JP items in their stock should advertise that fact, to drum up business (as these items are only going to get more desirable, and perhaps pricier).
For a supernatural chiller mixing magic (prestidigitation, legerdemain) with Magic (occultism, mysticism), check out my novel MAGIC: AN OCCULT THRILLER at http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Occult-Thriller-Reed-Hall/dp/1453874836

I just placed a large order with Daytona Magic buying quite a few of the Johnson products. It feels like I got one of everything! lol
As previously mentioned in this thread, Daytona Magic purchased all remaining inventory from Johnson. When it is gone, it is gone for good. I can distinctly remember tricks from when I was younger that I wished I could afford. In the cases at the magic shop, it always seemed like the coin tricks were the tricks that the big guys could buy. I never could. Or, at least the "good" coin tricks. I know that there are many manufacturers that make way better product than what the Johnson line provides, but there is certainly a nostalgia to it for me. I've been scourging the internet to see if I could locate any online stores that might also have remaining product, but I have had little to no success. One would think they would be putting this to the forefront, but it seems none are. |

As you just placed the order, don't be surprised if you get a call or email from Daytona saying the items are not actually in stock.
Hope that's not the case, though - sounds like it would be quite a haul!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I, thankfully, read the reviews on here. Called, spoke to them, and basically hand picked the items over the phone. Already got the tracking number and the package is on the way.
I most certainly appreciate the heads up from TMC, I believe it saved me quite a headache! |
