Hello! For us, we haven't decided what music we want yet. As we further develop our show it should all come together. I figure that we will probably get a few of the CD's mentioned here and just have a listen and see what we like. I've also been reading a bit of the SOCAN website to learn more about how it all works.

If you had some music that you wanted to release copyright free I'm sure no one would complain! The more choices people have the better!

Thanks!

Cheers

Thanks Dayle. I think I'm going to put together some of the custom music I used to use .

I checked out http://www.ArthurStead.com. I would recommend his CDs, better than some of the music for magic I've heard.

HI Steve,

I went to your site and listened to some of your tracks. I'm not sure how Scotland the Brave could be used in magic, but being born in Scotland and listening to Scottish music a lot in my early years it was refreshing.

It seems to me that a lot of music for magic, is pretty heavily synthesized to get the maximum effect.

Great stuff, and keep up the good work.

As computer music was one of my hobbies a couple of years ago I have a few programs I use for making my music. I don't use much music in my act but I use a program called fruity loops that is good for making rhythm arrangements and can also be used for making melodies.

It's probably faster and easier to buy some music than to make it yourself. I do it because I enjoy doing it.

Jo Jo,

Thanks for the compliment. I wouldn't use "Scotland the Brave" or most of my Celtic Knights CD for magic, with the exception of Faeries Waltz, which was originally written as background for the Linking Rings.

I've done film scoring and producing from orchestral to rock, so "music for magic" would be custom pieces, including some unreleased music from my "Wizard and Shaman" show from a few years back

. I used to do a lot of synth sounding pieces, and still could, but I'm leaning toward more "organic" pieces using exotic instruments. Just my personal taste at the moment.

For those of you who aren't quite so picky about their music, you could use the loop approach that Tom Stevens mentioned in the above post. I hear that "Acid" is a good program for window, and for my fellow Mac users, Apple's Garageband would be good.

Yo, Yo!

Is that still "hip" in American? Hard to keep track.

I'm not hipster. I'd like to get "public domain" CONCERT music (Americans often call it "classical music" - not your fault), but can't find any. That is, can't find any that's free. Really free. As in no charge. Boy, lots of hustles out there, like Chubby Checker on steroids.

So old recordings of dead people - Ravel, Beethoven, Bach, et. al. Any sites?

Thanks!

We could have been practicing!
