Vince mendoza has two excellent routines based o the joining and missing link
they are called found link and ring thing,, Vince has the very best handling of ML because he eliminated the teltale x pattern
and hi uunlinking idea is excellent
Ring thing vince also does a different unlinking and a one handed display that he also credits me for doing as well

for the CMH lovers
Jeff Pierce has a slo-=motion un link that fools your eyes badly this can esaly be added to any band effect .
this effect is in jeffs neew book

Jonathan P. is not correct. It is on either vol 1 or 3 of the Harlan Rubber Band Series, and is very clearly explained. It uses an unbroken rubber band.

Strong little effect. Fools everyone I have showed it too, and entertained them as well. There is just something about that ring climbing up the band while your hands are perfectly still!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I've been trying to "get" the Crazy Man's Handcuffs for a long time (an embarassingly long time), but when it comes to the important MOMENT, I've never had any confidence in it. More often than not, one of the bands goes flying, and it never feels like a terribly smooth motion. As my hands come back together, the effect is blown. Every time I've seen it done, it's nearly imperceptible. Does anyone have any good advice on pulling it off?

Monocreif; Do it slowly, alone, a bunch, then speed it up, I must have done the sleight a billion times before I felt I could get away with it. You have to get the "magic moment" of the effect down tight in order for it to be imperceptible.

My favorite is the one where you have the two rubber bands in your fists stretched out and the bottom strand jumps up three times till it becomes the top one. I know it would have been easier to say the name.... but I forgot it.

And of course it jumps down.... sorry

Yeah, I've only done it a few thousand times, far less than a billion. I'll keep trying! I'm flush with #19 bands at work, so I really need to get a good book on the subject.

Then allow me to recommend Elastrix 1 & 2, if you are not already aware of them.

Vinny emailed me a video of him performing my Slo-mo unlink from my new book "The King Has Left the Building..." and all I can say is "WOW". It's always great to see that someone else actually does something that you wrote, and not only that, adds something to it. Tyhis is what magic is all about.

Great job Vinny.

If you email Vinny he will gladly send you a demo of the video.
