A man walks into a train. Suddenly he sees a woman. She is missing her first finger on her left hand. He pulls out a gun, fires and kills her. He is then arrested, but a couple of hour later he is set free. No charge. How could that be? Feel free to ask questions.

It's an XBox game... I've got that one. Frustrating isn't it? There must be a bug in the game, because there is no way that guy should be set free. He ought to stay locked up until level 4 when he escapes with Blotnag and Freek when they blow up the prison wall. I don't know if you've noticed, but there is a continuity problem with the woman. Not only is her finger missing, but when she first appears she is wearing a red scarf, but as she reaches the end of the carriage, the scarf has changed to blue. Anyway, it's a reasonable game but I prefer World Carnage II.

The woman didn't try to kill the man, she was unarmed.

Was it Double Jeapody? And he recognised the missing finger?

Antz. You are almost there. Well done. The woman had cut off her finger and run away from her husband 30 years earlier. She did this to make it look like murder. The police found the finger and arrested the man. He was convicted and served 30 years in prison. When released, he meets his former wife and kills her. ( And I must say, he did the right thing).

Cool. I thought the movie 'Double Jeopardy' was great and your question reminded me of it

Nice! I liked this one.
Not trying to make the answer invalid (it IS valid ...) but its an interesting side note that there are ways around double jeopardy. For example in the cited case in the "real world" the prosecutor would probably, I think, have charged him with violating the womans civil rights (Civil Rights Act). |
