These 2 DVD's and the hypnosis shows on them are peformed by Hypnotist Gene Martin. They are almost always on ebay. He has a "Stage Hypnosis Notebook" which covers in words and text WHY and HOW to BECOME a stage hypnotist, not just "how to perform stage hypnosis", but ererything you can think of to put your show together and what to take with you to the shows. That's not in any other books.

I fully agree with Doctor Zolar about the value of the material that Gene Martin sells. He tells it like it is and lets you make an informed decision on whether or not you want to become a Stage Hypnotist. I would also add the Expert Pretalk from StageHypnosisCenter.com or the 2 minute induction DVD from Blair Robertson. The former is available on said website and the later is sold on ebay. Blair Robertson uses the ebay id of alexander. (be sure to include that period as it was not there for the end of my sentence it is part of his user id).

The Pretalk is the most important part of the show. It is where you start your induction and planting the suggestions in their minds that they want to come up and volunteer in your show. If you don't get this part right you are in for a long hard night. You never want to have to resort to begging, pleading or threatening there won't be any show. These resources will give you a great start.

Just to clarify the Blair Robertson product is suggested as it relates to the PreTalk. Blair gives a great example of what a good pretalk should be like and covers it very well in this DVD set.

I am not trying to be mean, but I have to wonder, why would someone post a message just to say they don't know something? I've seen a few posts where someone chimes in out of the blue (or maybe blueish gray) with a "I don't know."
I would understand if a question was asked directly to this person.

Hi all. Do you all find it much harder to hypnotise people close to you, friends and family than a bunch of strangers? I undertand that it may be a case of my family not believing I can do it, but even after they've seen it done on strangers I still can't get them under. Any ideas?

It seems to me that this may be a bit too good to be true. I think that the method would require much practice and a knowledge of background. For me, I am not a firm believer in hypnosis...Possibly it works, however, from what I have seen it only works on extremely suggestible people and they play along. If I am wrong then I would like to fully understand the magnitude of hypnosis.

It took a long time to get my wife under. Several tries to be exact. Friends and family are hard. They knew you before you were the hypnotist. Total strangers who know you only as a Hypnotist are easy. I can take 20 strangers and have at least 12 of them under in six minutes and put on a great show. It is all in perception and expectancy.

They aren't playing along, if they are you get them off your stage as they will make you look bad.

Kyle, EVERYONE would like to fully understand the magnitude of hypnosis. We learn more and more every day.

Playing along is not really what I believe happens though. Not in all cases. For example are the people who have Oral Surgery playing along when they do it with NO anasthesia? Man that is a long way to go for playing along. Or the women who have a c-section? No playing along there.

So if those people are real and we can probably agree they are is it so hard to believe someone would see a martian standing in front of them?

You should find a lot of views on hypnosis other than posts here on the Café. You can google it and come up with hundreds of thousands of hits. You will not learn about it with 2 minute opinions here, do real research, and find your opinion, that way it is at least YOURS and a valid one.
