OK, the final outpost.

My better half informs me that I do have some of that 40+ year old walnut stashed away in small log form and depending on how much is in the (of all places) chicken house!!! (I live on a farm, remember), I hope to bring you some to the next PMZZ meeting.

There was something else I was supposed to bring too but I forget what it is now. Maybe someone can remind me.

We still have room for one more member too to make it the Mystic Nine!!

That was it. Seems like there was something else too. Oh well, if it doesn't come to me this time, then maybe next. Can't hit all the balls in one afternoon anyway. Nothing left to do later.

Hmmmm. Maybe we should make Steve Brooks a member??? It's his castle we're meeting in, and a nice castle it is too!!!

Tabby,

CD or VHS of Harbin performing ZigZag. If it's on CD, we can play it on my laptop.

Daniel, Welcome.... Take a look here

I'll try to remember to try to remember to find time to dump that video into my editor and drop it over to a dvd or a cd. Tell me exactly what format you need for the puter!@!!

Daniel. For some reason a conversation a few months ago has turned into PMZZ The World's Smallest and Most Exclusive Magic Club. If you join in then you will be a member. The only qualifications are you can't be too serious and you must know the answer to question #11.

We've actually all drove hours to have a meeting and have another one scheduled next week. We have a member from as far away as California (no he didn't make it to the meeting in person but we took his picture).

Just fun stuff but we are all serious about magic.

Serious about magic, and serious about building magic. Not serious about much else... except our friendships!

Just did a profile check on Daniel... says he's an 8th grade student. Perhaps he doesn't need to know the answer to question # 11. He could become a member-in-training without it, though.

Do you make any of your own magic Daniel?

You know that I would have been glad to move the old topic here. No one asked!

Tabby,

Don't make me a prime minister. The only prime I know about is fittin' for the grill. There's no royalty named "Bob". There's no Prince Bob, King Bob, President Bob or Count Bob. (There are a lot of "No Count Bobs". Big family, I guess.) In the Knights of the Round Table, again there was no Sir Bob. There must have been a problem because I have heard of "No Sir Ree Bob!" (We’re not related.)

I was cleaning up. (That’s a term I use for moving junk from one pile to another.) The two Byron G. Wels books The Great Illusions of Magic (1977) got moved again. Do any of you ever use the plans from this set?

I was considering an update of the “Waller’s Screen of Life”. It is hinged like “Jacob’s Ladder” and the side panels of the screen change colors as well as produce “Miss Lucy”.
I would like to use it as the intro to her D’lites and fire dance routine. Any experience here? Ideas? Warnings?

Bob

Tabby,

You said you may be able to JPG Dia Veron's eyes? Is that the elusive "ball that needs to be hit"?

Hey Bob!

I was about to send you a PM about redirecting the old PMZZ to here. I sent Rick a PM earlier saying I was going to when I got back tonight. Ears are burning around here.

Here's another uncanny coincidence. Last night I pulled out the Byron Wels books, and they are on the sofa right now. The Waller's Screen of Life is kind of like a giant Himber wallet, isn't it? I don't think I ever checked it that closely. I think Ken Griffin and Roberta may have used one in their show... maybe theirs was a Bryce Screen? I'll have to dig out their book, too.

CD or DVD works in my laptop, either way.

Yes, all of our ears were burning today, and a few other things. LOL

Tabman,

Is it my fault that Roger Dangerfield got more respect than I do?

Michael,

Quote: "The Waller's Screen of Life is kind of like a giant Himber wallet, isn't it?"

I never thought of it as a pocket trick, but you're right. Palming Lucy is going to take some doing and she only weighs about 115. (I'm going to get killed! Don't tell her.) In box jumping she likes to end with her stepping up on one of my knees and popping up to sit on my shoulder. We have reached the point in life where my right knee and left shoulder are so bad I can hardly stand it on either side. Perhaps we need a trick with a walker?

I would say that it is closer to a Temple Screen than a Himber Wallet. The hinge is right. But there is something extra. I want to add led lights that change colors too.

We also have a very large (6' high x 9' wide) shadow screen that is made with white Lycra and midnight blue sparkle trim and stands. I think in the right lighting D'Lites would shine through. These are one-way hinges. Ideas?

Another option is my "Portal" that is made with two smooth interior (hollow) wood house doors and a door-sized frame in the center that I cover with paper while the audience watches. (This has custom made two-way hinges.) I used it to death in the 80s for fashion shows, sales meetings, country club lead-outs, Santa and the Easter Bunny, sports programs, and political rallies. I need to replace the house doors and start over. The problem is that it takes an extra "educated" assistant to perform. (It certainly doesn't owe me anything.)

But I want a screen back in the show! They play too well not to use. And they pack flat.

I remember backing off them out west when I was doing a lot of outdoor shows (fairs) and the wind was a factor. I'm not in Kansas anymore!

Thursday's coming!

Bob

OH! I see how it started. I just got done skimming through all 13 pages. Smile

I saw the rules, which don't apply anyways??? LoL I've been dying to build my own illusions, but for me it would take forever to get the money. About the whole German thing...in December I purchased the Pimsleur's German in Ten Days. Been more than that and I still have to listen to the 8th lesson! LOL I've been falling behind! After watching a funny clip, I want to learn Romanian too. Smile I have to finish the German though (after this one, I have 2 more units to go. Smile)

About the 'psychological profile test in which only question #11 counts': What's that all about? lol

You'll learn all about question #11 as time goes by but just let me say it was part of a series of psychological tests that a large corporation wanted me to take when offering me a job. Everything hinged on question #11 and I put the wrong answer down and they didn't hire me. It forced me out into the world to make my way on my own. All I had was access to a table saw (be careful and wear safety glasses), some glue and a bunch of plywood so I started making magic tables. In a way they did me a big favor. I made my first magic table when I was ten and I'm almost 60 now and have a 10 year old grandson. If you want to do something enough you can find a way if you don't give up.

Theres an old book called "Victory Carton Illusions" that was published after WW2. It's all about making illusions from large cardboard boxes which was about all the materials that was left after the big war. I have a copy of it someplace in my store room. I think you could probably find one for a few bucks. It was a memeographed booklet back in the day.
