Syd and Gentlemen,
The car found the way home. Lucy woke up to eat her German food. She certainly approves of that part. She said, "Finally food that smells like home." It was a grand meeting of the PMZZ. I really enjoyed every bit of it. Tabman, we need a few sessions of just looking back at the recording industry in its hay day together. We have a lot of mutual old friends in both businesses. Thanks too for getting Pete's lecture notes down to a price we could nearly afford. Rick and Syd it was good getting to see you two and to get to know you better. Congratulations on the new workshop. Rick, I think it is customary to carry a picture of your wife with the head on! (The knife chest was nice. Was that Halloween or just another day at the office?) I want to start another club PSMB (Please Sell My Books). You seem to have a very green thumb there. Syd, you certainly add a lot of class to the organization. Michael, it takes a brave man to ride with me. You did well. (Several times you weren't even in position to jump out!) We need to get together and write a book just on "This Was not the Show I had Planned to Give, But..." or "What I Won't Do to Please and Audience", or "Sure I Can Laugh Now!" Pete, thanks a million for the notes. Maybe next month you can join us for rehab. We needed you there to complete the group. Rick and Michael need a finish for torn card and dollar bill. The first part they accomplished! To all of you, I think you did something very special for a little girl tonight. It's an honor to be among you. There was also some very good work in the props department too. Thanks for letting me hold the PMZZ memorial mini ZZ for the picture. The next one of us that works Kansas City needs to fine a girl for the prop. I've never heard of them that size anywhere else. Since nothing got painted, I suppose we'll just have to keep meeting. YEA! We're living right down to our purpose! Bob Magic By Sander |

Bob,
The dagger chest was 'just another day at the office'. It was a Saturday morning and I had just done some final touches to it, and wanted to look at how well it worked. Of course, since it was before noon, Syd wasn't awake yet. (She has to have her coffee or she's grumpy). And yes, she brings class to anyplace she's at. Did you like the way she explained the math problem? I could tell when she looked at it, it was like no challenge to her. Next time ask her different names from the periodic table and she'll give you the symbols for them without a second thought. (And I am not kidding about that at all!!!). Seeing the sparkle in Mamie's eyes is what performing is all about. I remember Red Skelton saying that if he could make people laugh just for a minute, then in that moment they could forget about their problems. We perform not for ego, but for other's enjoyment. |

Well said, Rick! I have the photos sized for emailing and I'll send them out directly (to everyone).

I like the Ole Heidelberg but I'm wondering if there isn't something up by the interstate we could check out. The added hour of drive time about wears me out. I left at 3:30 and got back here at around midnight. Did Sir No come up from Montgomery??? That's a pretty good drive too I think.

Bob lives in Selma and has about another hour and a half home from Birmingham. Long drive for him.
No reason why we can't look for something in Athens as it will save all of us a half hour each way. No reason why we have to jog over to Huntsville. When we first organized, we had intentions of factoring Huntsville's magic club meeting. No good reason why we can't look closer to the interstate and perhaps use Ol' Heidelberg as a "special event" location at our discretion. I'm with you. ~michael

Yes, lots of places to eat in Athens that wont run us out. I know the CatFish Cabin which is right off the Interstate would work. In theory, Florence is the around same distance from Nashville and Birmingham if you take the trace from Nashville and 157 off of I-65 from Birmingham as it is to the Athens exit.
Or Tabby, Syd and I don't have a problem meeting you in Nashville. I know for Michael and Bob, that's LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG drive. I'm just happy we get to meet, but that drive is a long one for all of you. Rick |

No doubt that the OH is a great place to meet. Good food, good magic atmosphere, friendly staff and patrons but about 11pm last night I was wishing I was near bout home already. Yall too I bet.
Thanks for those pics. Was fun to check them out. Sir No should have another perspective on things too!!! -=tab

Thanks for the Photos! Why it was like being there! (without the lousy weather and the drive.) Y'all need to consider California. It's raining but we don't shovel it.

Just keep in mind that since we started this at the OH and keeping with that German theme that Zauber (think I spelled it right) is German for Magic. In fact, Zig Zauber would be a good name for a magician!!!

Great to hear from you all again!
Nice pictures! Performing for Mamie was a very humanitarian act. I'm liking the ideas for 'PMZZ'! Keep 'em coming! Oh yeah, thank you Sir Tabman for holding on to a copy of the lecture notes for me! And thank you Mr. Biro for supplying them! Daniel |

Yes, that was a good night last night at the OHC. Michael helped me figger out what to order but we were both dismayed when we found out that there was no German Chocolate Cake available. It's a super restaurant and I highly recommend it to anyone. It's always great to get together with friends, old and new. Thank you to Michael, Bob, Rick and Syd for a nice evening. It's worth the drive. I hope everyone has a good weekend. I will be working in my shop trying to get closer to being caught up so I can take a few days next week and head to south Georgia to look in on my mom.

Tabby, You still thinking about swinging through Birmingham? I got the rest of that first chunk of walnut split and rough sawn. I'll look at the next one for wand blanks.
Rick, Glad you caught that PMZZ group shot in need of photoshopping! I forgot to add a note when I sent it. Hey, have you guys read Pete's lecture notes yet? There are some really good things in there! I've seen Dick Zimmerman do the trick Pete mentions, and it is really a fooler!

I've always liked the vanishing birdcard and he provides an easy way to drop the gimmick. You can see where Pete's mind is. WOW. I would have never thought of that.
Thank goodness he's archived his thoughs for future generations. |

Michael, Ive got to go through Atlanta on the way down to look at some logs in Hampton, GA. I might come back up north through b'ham but only if I have to swing through Columbus GA to check on some gigs. If not this trip then a future one for sure. I cant plan very far in advance except for my youngest son's wedding this may in Denver. Got to play it by ear as they say!!!
Make yourself something pretty out of that walnut. Ought to be worth something extra since its some wood from the tabman's private stock If you can get some splits out of the other piece do it. Ive got at least 4 or 5 more smaller pieces that would do for spinning a few wands. Someday I would like one like that beauty you made of the SA Cherry wood. Also can you give me a web link for the SEAM convention. I want to check on being a dealer at that thing. Same deal as before but in reverse to make sure we have a table either way. Maybe we can take a couple of lathes to SEAM!!! That might be fun! -=tabman

Sir tabman,
I'd be honored to spin a wand for you, my friend! Some of that Brazillian Cherry? I like the way it feels. I knocked one split from the second log just a moment ago. It looks like it will spin fine. If you're able to get through here, great... if not, then anytime you want. SEAM http://www.knology.net/~boyer/IBM194/index.htm Taking lathes to SEAM? You thinking of turning customs on order? Sounds kind of cool. ~michael
