I'm looking for a review on this item. Are there any angle/noise issues? Can this be used in a closeup situation? What are the pros/cons? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is a replica of the silk production box listed in Greater Magic although I can't remember which page. I know because I pointed George to the listing while we were discussing old stuff that wasn't made anymore.
The size is small but it makes it more angle proof. I'd say that the only bad angles are from slightly behind you. As long as people are in front of you, even to the sides, you should have no problem. There are no noise issues since there are no moving parts except for the doors that open and close. The box is opened, shown empty, closed and the silk is removed from the door in the top. This isn't really a complete review since I haven't taken it out and used it. I haven't had a space in the act where it would fit. It's nice, it does it's job, it's well made and the method is solid. If you want to produce a silk from a box this is as good as anything else that's out there. Hope this helps, Dave |

The box is called the "Silk Wonder Box" in Hilliard's Greater Magic, and it's described on pages 604-606 (if that helps any). I've made a working model out of cardboard, just to try it out. You have to experiment with the angles, to get them right; otherwise, it's a nice effect.
