Hello
I'm planning a wbesite, to showcase me and my "apparent" talents!!!! I would like to put some music on in the background of some videos I have filmsed of me doing some tricks in a bar? Can anyone help me through the "mind field" of royalty free music etc? Does anyone have any free royalty pieces they would like to share with me? Or can they recommend any good sites where its free to download royality free music? Many thanks, Matthew |

Gandalf,
I also provide royalty-free music specifically designed for magical performers. The purchase price includes performance rights ... you never have to worry about copyright infringement. If you're going to use my music as part of a video presentation, the only requirement I have is that you credit me as composer and include my contact info (website and phone number). Otherwise the music is yours to use as you like. Check out some clips at http://www.arthurstead.com |

Gandolph,
If you download music from any of the P2P (Peer to Peer) services such as Kazaa you can easily search for, "Instrumental Beats" or "Drum Loops". Most of these do not have royalties attached to them as they are made for singers, rappers and other artists to use at their leasure. I use Adobe audition to mix music so that it is my own. -Chris.

Be very cautious downloading from Peer to peer services such as Kazaa. A lot of these loops are stolen from recording artists and are actually illegal. Some years ago there was an eight second ruling, meaning it was considered legal if the loop was less than eight seconds. Now if the loop can be recognized, it is illegal regardless of the length. A lot of people get away with downloading this stuff for personal use, but it is not a good idea to put it in your show.
I don't want to sound "preachy" here, but stealing is wrong whether its an illusion or a recording.

I agree, I'm keeping well away from Peer to peer due to all the bad press etc I keep reading!
