I saw Juan Tamariz perform a cord/rope effect that just blew my mind. He uses a cord and loops it around his ring finger & closes his fist half way or half fist. He asks a spectator to press & hold his finger on the nail portion of this fingers. This is so he can show that the rope does not go anywere but to the other finger. When he counts to 3 the cord/rope jumps to the middle finger. He continues to do with every finger until the rope is just off.
Would anyone be able to assist me with where to learn this cord/rope effect? Thanks, Me |

Sounds like a neat effect. Where'd you happen to see it?

It appears that no one that's seen this string knows. Well if you happen to find out please PM me with the source. It sounds like a fun piece of close up that could be adapted to fit a patter about escapes.

I don't know where to find it, but I know how to do it.
Arthur Day showed it to me years ago, with one of those woolly elastic bands to tie back hair. Very effective. |

Riley,
Would you be willing to PM the method? Is it even easily explainable in type for that matter? Also, what was the original patter to it? |

It's not easy to explain just in print -- but, it's not difficult to do. If I can write it up I will PM you with it. When I do it with the hair "tie back" thing, and the spec is holding the tip of my finger, the natural tension in the band allows my right hand to be free. I pass it over the top of my left hand, in that split second the move is done (hidden), and the band is just seen around the other finger. It also works well without the cover. Nice visual effect. Don: It's not the thumb tie principle. Regards Riley |

It was a good question, Don.
This thing with the loop looks magical even to the performer, and with the spectator holding the fingertip it looks impossible. Last night I had a look thru' some books, but still can't find it !! Riley |
