From last night's gig, the five I did the most:

Vanishing salt
Ambitious Card to Wallet
Invisible Deck
CMH
Production of a live goldfish

Throw in Red Hot Mamma, Back In Time, Wonder Pet, In A Flash, and vanishing cigarette and that was about all I did all night.

Well, I was fascinated enough by this thread that I started cataloging the data.
I counted 486 total effects. 186 of the routine names or product names I could not recognize, so I could not sort them into any meanignful categories (yet). The 300 that I recognized are distributed as follows:
137 card effects
73 coin effects
34 sponge effects
29 money effects
28 rubber band effects
21 ring effects
17 rope effects
14 silk effects
10 penetration effects

Finally, the five most popular single tricks are:
1) sponge balls/bunnies
2) ambitious card variations
3) crazy man's handcuffs
4) coins across variations
5) card to impossible locations

The next five were in a dead heat
color changing knives
color monte
invisible deck
rubber band routines
bill switch

Cheers, John

I see a lot of people perform color changing knives. Which routines do you perform, and which set of knives do you guys use? Looking on PM, a set of 5 knives costs around $87, and a DVD would be another $30 odd. Is there a place to find these cheaper?

Thanks,

-Dylan

I'd be interested too. The Colour Changing Knives I know of come with two knives (black and white) but a really good routine requires a third knife (aka buy a second set) but they are dead cheap.

Perhaps that's not the one everyone uses. *shrug*

I love the list, and quite surprised that I actually could put together a routine with some of those... I've got everything already and just need an excuse to use them together!

Contact Joe Stevens, and ask for the Scotty York knife set. It has a routine based on the Matt Schulien routine, which is in "The Magic of Matt Schulien".

Great book anyhow.

This is an old quote, but what the hay.

I use Joe Mogar's knives. The are a great size and shape for all knife sleights. I use his perfect knife set, and also the three knife set, for Whit Haydn's "Intricate Web of Distraction."

Ring and rope (3.5" ring)
Rubber band routine (CMH, band vanish, linking bands)
Produce a dollar bill then do Extreme Burn (dollars change into 20s)
