If there are tables, a money prediction. I chose a spectator to hold an envelope and a spectator to help with the exercise. I have everyone dis some coins out of their pocketand put them on the table...I draw symbols, letters or numbers suggested by the spectators on each coin...one person is chosen to shake the coins (like dice) in their hands and drop them on the table...discarding all the coins that land blank side up...until the last one with the writing is face up. The person who is holding the envelope opens it to reveal the participants name, coin and symbol.

I started performing on the street again recently and decided I wanted to perform without a table, below is what the set I came up with. That set lasted a couple of days before I realized that I am not comfortable enough to perform without a table.

TT and silk with color change
Slop Shuffle
3 Ball Trick
Ring on Stick
Bill Change/Bill to Wallet

And what have we learned from this? That if we strive to learn the things on the list that we will be just like everybody else! Yipee!

I spoke recently with the person in charge of booking talent at the magic castle and one of the factors that comes heavily into play as to assigning magicians to dates is ORIGINALITY.

If you're doing basically the same stuff that everyone else is doing.... you go WAY DOWN ON THE LIST.

So, if your awesome act consists of The Silent Treatment, Ninja Rings, Ivory Connection and closing with The Lemon Game... well, sounds like it's gonna be a long wait (unless you're Jon, Reed, Shoot, or Doug).

Only something to think about. Nothing more.

Excellent point Frank,

Hey what about mixing up these effects, ie. "The Silent Ninja", "Lemon Rings" etc....

This has now got me thinking... How about "Ambitious Lemon Ring Flight" - a signed key chain with a spectators ring attached keeps appearing back on top a stack of lemon's....the possiblities are endless!!

THanks S2000 .I am just learning David Roth's Coins across and he use a table in the video and I am trying to picture doing that standing up ...

I like S2000magician's response that you can do Coins Across while standing from one hand to the other. Another variation is to use patter that it is going up your arm, across your chest, and down your other arm into your hand. If you're doing it with long sleeves...adjust your sleve a bit on both arms in plain view, to lead them to think that your sleeve is involved. Then send the next one across with the sleeve rolled up. Ask the spec to hold your last three in their fist while you send the 4th across...grasp their fist with your empty hand and then give a squeeze right when the magic happens...have them reveal all four.

Ha, it's funny to find this a few months after I met Marcus Eddie and bought "Five" from Theory11. As a result I'm loving Stairway and Fresh Scent. I often carry Gum (the Orbitz version) with me, and have Titan's Finger ready to go at any time. That, plus Twilight Angels and Lubor's Lens rounds out the list... although I've got a real walkaround gig in a few weeks and I'll let you know what worked out Smile
