"You look like you've done this before"

"I liked when you did it" (via Bill Malone)

I wonder if there is some sort of gag you could do, where when they are finishing putting it on you, your pants fall down (Might have been done somewhere else)
Thanks! Scott B.

It's kind of hard to get the pants to fall down, especially when there is a crotch strap there. Or the person could have the pants right before the straight jacket gets put on him.

Hey Donster,

When I thought about this I was thinking about a straight jacket without the strap. If you did have the strap it could be done before the strap is put on.

Who else wants a "I love myself" Jacket?

Lets get this straight! Jacket to come off! (straitjacket)

Now all I need is a padded room!

My hands don't get cold during the winter season.

Wolfie I thought you already had a padded room. You might also want to have a couple stooges in white coats waiting to take you away.

I have a routine that culminates in a "pants drop". I do think that the straitjacket used in a comedy context should have some kind of "kicker" at the end. It can't just be all about the crotch strap. (funny as it is)
Two of the best kickers I've seen are:
Ed Alonzo - Duck production
Frances Minnotti - Re-jacketted at the end.

For the crotch strap lovers...here is a bit I do that you could use.

Bring out the jacket on a hanger and casually put the hanger on the floor at your feet. When it comes time for the traditional "crotch strap byplay"...stage cue the guy to pick up the hanger and use it to grab the strap thru your legs. It's a funny visual and gives the spectator credit for the joke.

I usually have to pay to have someone tie me up like this.

You are pretty good at this. Is this the way you put yours on at home?

I'm going to get out of this if it takes all night!

As you know, straight jackets are for crazy people - this one is my own.

Dropping the pants is something I've been doing for almost ten years now (in my magic shows that is).
Ya see what ya hafta do is this, get out of the SJ and just as you are throwing it on the floor after your amazing escape your pants fall down. On too many buckles undone I guess.
It gets one of the biggest laughs...

Harry Anderson has a great gag where he pays the guy to help get him out with a free hand.

As a M.O.T.(member of the tribe) depending on my audience.

1.This reminds me of when I was 8 days old
2. SLOW DOWN, I AM ALREADY JEWISH

Find what works for you.

I used to do puppets till I found out a well known magician was doing a similar bit. Don't think he was a ventriloquist though. These days I use a distant voice to talk to one of my characters off stage.

Actually one of the funniest bits came from him and Gay Blackstone during a feedback session for me during a Magic Idol Session at a IBM Annual Convention.

He/or she gave me two words. ...

FASHION SENSE. Perhaps it was time to update my 70's wardrobe.

Be safe, well and funnnnnnny.

Here is one I just thought of. You should change it around though- "Don't worry, I have had a lot of practice at home."

I like number 2 from Harris. I hope it is related to the c strap. I might use the idea.
