All you guys out there using parrots. Who are you using for insurance? The American Clown Association, and the I.B.M will not insure them only doves, rabbits and doves.

I have a macaw and want to get it covered if possible.

You might want to get in touch with people that perform animal shows, they should know who insures parrots.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife or the USDA might be able to help you on that.

I use animals, but have never had to worry about insuring parrots. You may also want to just call a local insurance company. They'll insure just about everything, but you'll be paying for it. Are you trying to insure for liability or accident?

This guy performs at a lot of fairs, and might be able to help you as well. He has 30 some parrots flying around outdoors, he makes a call and they all come back. http://www.thepiratesparrot.com/

Good luck.

Thanks Dave:

I wanted liability insurance. You know I.B.M and the American Clown Association will ONLY insure doves, dogs and rabbits. Any body using other animals in an act from parakeets, ducks, ferrets, parrots should technically have liabilty insurance just in case something happens. You know this society, Dave. I assume most people probably don't have this insurance. Maybe I'm making to much out of this. But I want to do this the right way. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Believe it or not, I heard that you have to even have a PERMIT to perform with a dog on stage. Not sure if that's something you'd need to know or not.

I've never worried about insurance on my animals. It's probably not a bad idea incase your parrot flies out into the audience, and draws blood on someone, which doesn't take much. I've seen Greg Frewin's parrot take off before. I can't handle his parrot, and I do well with most birds. Fortunately he was able to run out and get the bird, but I can't imagine what would have happened if it bit someone. That bird is mean! The positive side is that if the bird flies off, it's usually freaked out, and will go to anyone... Hope this helps.
