I am looking for a video to illustrate different egg bag routines. The one I use is a simple one shown to me at the shop where I bought the egg bag. Is this a good video? Does it provide step-by-step instruction? Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it! Mark

The Stevens video is a very good one as it shows three different egg bag routines: martin Lewis, Tom Mullica and Billy McComb's versions. There is also a discussion/lecture by Charlie Miller and Johnny Thompson on the egg bag. Besides this video, there is some great info on a new video by Martin Lewis on the Senor Mardo Egg bag version. Also, a great routine in Henry Hay's book Learn Magic.
Good luck! |

I learned the Martin Lewis routine from the video. It's excellent!

This is THE video on the Egg Bag. Also, see Denny Haney's performance video (from Denn and Lee). He is also a great exponent of the Malini Bag.

The dvd by MArtin Lewis is called the Senor MArdo Egg Bag DVD (done with a Senor Mardo - or Sterling) egg bag. PArt of it duplicates his work as shown on the Stevens video (but in DVD format)> Also on the new DVD, there are instructions on how to make your own egg bag. But you can purchase the bag ready-made from Hank Lee for $40!

As mentioned above the Stevens video is a great introduction into this very versatile prop. It gives you everything you need to know to build a working routine.
You can also find great routines in print in several sources. One such source is Bruce Elliott’s “The Classic Secrets of Magic”. In it you will find arguably one of the best egg bag routines ever developed (and the one I tend to use). It’s Roy Benson’s (of the Benson Bowl routine fame) and is not a typical or standard routine. It is designed for stage, club, or platform use and perfect for a street venue. You can see the “classic” Miller/Malini routine performed by Denny on his Performance only video (also has his performance of the Multiplying Bottles). Denny’s video is well worth the money just to see a professional performer getting a huge reaction from the trick. Denny can be reached at: http://www.dennymagic.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi The Martin Lewis “Mardo” bag routine DVD can be had directly from Mr. Lewis as can the proper bag. Try: http://www.magikraft.com/

I use Tarbell Bags, made by Pauline Tong, for the Martin Lewis routine. I made a few changes to the routine, but these bags are my favorite. They can be bought at http://www.dazzlingmagic.com.
