I don't know if I'm the first to post it, but I was just conversing with Mike via email and the Diminishing Returns HAS BEEN UPDATED with Bike backs and and the mini's look much better! Mike said he received these 2 days ago and even with all the new features, it still includes the Defective Deck as a bonus. I would imagine that you will have to order from his site at mallofmagic.com to get these since they are so new...I will also say that he is a very genuine and pleasant person. It was a pleasure giving him my money

Why is he doing something "again"? Didn´t you just say that he is doing something "new"....?

I purchased this from Mike a while back, and it's a darn good trick by a heck of a nice guy.

Calexa, "again" is used as Mr, Mike Power's does it again, not creating this trick "again"..."again" is because he is always trying to be creative in developing and improving his art and effort to give us more options in our presentation and value, even if it is the same general effect. Maybe you should read more carefully instead of flaming and being a jerk (now I will flame back )
zur, I had no idea, it's hard to find tricks with slight variances with a billion magic shops online and unfortunately finding relevant things on this board is *** near impossible without spending 3 days sifting through posts of people bickering half way through a discussion (like this). But I thank you for addressing this. I suppose it would be wise of me to ask a question and have it addressed. The point of this post: I simply wanted to share what Mike told me in an email when I purchased this from him 2 days ago via his website, with this community. I did not expect to have my grammar challenged by a German studing in London (more flaming). Even though I think its funny people feel the need to makes posts that have NOTHING to do with the original post. Just my 2 cents....and lots of flaming... |

Actually... from what I remember, the "updated" "Diminishing Returns" from a few years back was on "bicycle" stock (with Bicycle Faces) but still had "Hoyle" backs (I think). If that is correct, does the "updated" version that jwinnell is speaking of have "Bicycle" backs??? Mike, where you at?

The updated version from a few years ago had Hoyle backs but the red ink on the faces was "Bicycle red" and not that dark red they use on Hoyle cards. I don't know about the new batch.

I doubt they have bike backs as it's not needed. You just add one bike back card and your set.

Hi all,
For the last two years Diminishing Returns was available with Bicycle faces but still had the Hoyle shell back design (in Bicycle Red). This really didn't create any problems since you never see the backs except in a fan. Unfortunately, I used to get email and phone calls telling me that they weren't Bikes etc. I never understood U.S. Playing Card's reluctance to put the Bicycle back on tricky cards. They have a love/hate relationship with the magic community. Anyway, I just received my new shipment of Diminishing Returns/Defective Deck and they now have Bicycle backs. Problem solved. I also redid the special card with the mini cards printed on the back. In the original version, the spacing was too far apart and the card looked a bit different than the other cards in the spread. Now it looks exactly like the spread. The "new" Diminishing Returns isn't a new trick. It's just an improved deck. If anyone held out because of the shell backs, you can now rest assured that Diminishing Returns/Defective Deck is TOTALLY Bike (including the ace of spades)and has an improved mini spread card. That is what's up. If you haven't seen this item. Go to http://www.mallofmagic.com and check the "Videos" section. There are vids of both Diminishing Returns and the free item that comes with it called The Defective Deck. Mike

This is a wonderful, perfectly constructed card trick. I'll buy the new version (even though I just purchased the older one from Hocus Pocus two weeks ago! HA!)

To add to the tide, I, too, just bought one from Mike's website. A very nice effect (with roots in Hamman's Micro-Macro), and the free bonus is excellent.
