>DOes this blanck envelope come in VHS or
>DVD only? Only DVD. And no written instructions. I was hoping I would have the opportunity to at least follow something written, but I ended up having to wait until I bought a DVD player for my over-exuberance. THAT's frustrating, having a great trick and everyone asking you how it is, and you can't honestly answer because you haven't seen it yourself! |

Yes, this is an old post.
However, I found something about this product yesterday. I read a book from Steve Beam, "Self Working Card Miracle Vol.1", and there is a trick using a envelope which is the almost as SAME as the "Black Envelope". The only different is the colour of the envelope. COPY?

This was discussed further back up this very page where you posted your question. Go back and you'll find the whole explanation for your question.
Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

Steve Hook,
Oh I am sorry, I didn't read the long post. Now I understand. May be there are more ppl who has thought of this, Peter's, Bob's and Martini's versions could ALL be come out independantly. Michael Lam

....and on some horrible day in some future, every magician in the world will simultaneously think up the same new trick...and it'll probably have something to do with thread.

One more thing, I don't like the No Palming statement, as it in fact use the GXXXXXX CXX. I really don't like it, it is almost cheating.

Cardfreakhk,
If you read the descriptions carefully you'll discover the first routine uses no palming at all. It also provides a terrific way to get a facsimile of the signed card which allows you to "change the momentt. I'm not sure from your posts if you have actually watched the DVD or not...my guess is you haven't. All of the history, credits and the routines have been documented on other threads concerning The Black Envelope |

I watched it one time ages ago, and I have tried out the move and the method. It works.
I am not saying the trick is bad, don't get me wrong. How often we buy a trick after we read the description, but we are disappointed. I still can't remember "no funny switch", "really floating", "can be examinable" and many many more. Those are our nightmares. I do like (I think we all do) the dealers to be a little honest, so posted my feeling here. Magicians' lies are already all around, we should be a little honest when we CAN. ^_^ Bob, by the way, I bought your lecture tape from International Magic. It was a good lecture. I like the coins trick most, especially the audio bit. Is it your creation?

The Black Envelope stands on its own as a great tool with many posabilities. The routines in the dvd are excellent, especially the thought of card. Anyone who does a visual force or estimation work has the perfect "out" with The Black Envelope.

Is anyone still performing this effect? I have read the entire thread about other versions but has this been improved on over the last 8 years?
Magic or just an illusion? it's a free choice .... isn't it?

This has been a staple in my repetoire for a number of years. It's perfect as is, so no improvement is necessary. Kohler is known for releasing stuff that has been worked out in detail for real world workers. I've also been using the "Black Envelope" version of envelopes with R Paul Wilson's "Con Cam Cards Across" with good success.

You will also find with the Black Envelope that Bob teaches some similar methods that he teaches on the Lightning Box dvd. That should give you an idea of its in to date and still current methods.

If you're interested in black envelope you might also want to look into mirage wallet. Similar in principle. But you can use an everyday looking wallet.

I know this is an old thread but Id like to reopen it.
I'm having a dilemma. BLACK ENVELOPE VS. ENVYLOPE (Paul Harris' new one?) Which one would you choose if you had to pick between the two and why? |

Some seem to think that the “no palm” claim suspect. That’s a big issue. Can someone explain, without giving anything away, why the no palm claim is dubious. If it helps, I own and perform Regal’s Special Delivery.

There isn't a "Palm" per se. Think Mullica wallet load. Easy. But there is some ingenious extra stuff going on which I won't mention here. The Black Envelope rocks! Get it.

I also echo the thought that Bob Kohler irons out all the seams in every effect he works out. His works are seamless. Bob approaches near-perfection. A true artist.
