Okay this one's pretty simple. When can half of twelve be seven?

When you're talking about Roman Numerals.
When you cut off the bottom half of XII, it becomes seven. Shane Wiker |

Base 12 math...
12 would be equal to 14 in base 10.... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C So the 1 would be worth 12, and the 2 worth 2. 12 + 2= 14 Half of 14 would be 7... Though I'd rather take Shane's answer, that is way better than wierd base math.... I can't believe that actually cutting the letters gives the right answer, amazing! |

Thus far the answer I'm looking for has evaded the enormous two people who have tried. Let's just say this, the tendancy is to overthink this trick.

Actually it's probably better than the answer I'm looking for. I'll be sure to remember it for future reference.

Is this the old "counting backwards" trick? I won't say anything else...but if memory serves correctly I used to do this to my friends to convince them that half of 10 was 6.
