Hello I'm curious about some flourish DvDs. I've purchased xtreme cuts with Keone and I almost know every flourish by heart, I've also purchased Cap Cuts, I'm half way through it. Haven't really made an effort so far on that one. Anyway, soon it's time for another, perhaps 2 Flourish dvds, really love flourishes. I like sybil work particularly. (spelling? :/) I'm thinking about the D&D Buck system and cap cuts 2 so to speak, think it's called recapped? I also know some basic cuts from BTP card magic and almost every cut on Harwin's teaching videos if you know them.Do you think I should reconsider och perhaps add more DvDs?
Thnx! ps. is the close up thumb tip really more "invisible" to the audience than the vernet classic ones? |

Save your money on the thumb tip. Get one that fits correctly and don't worry about what it looks like. Mike Ammar proved this while performing and when he finished he exposed his thumb tip. Which by the way was almost three inches long and painted RED! The real secret to using a tip is to RELAX! On your other question: Flashing sometimes intimidates. Remember K.I.S.S.

Practice more on your flourishes says I. Once you could do them with your eyes closed or asleep, then go get some new stuff to master. You are better with a perfected routine or trick rather than knowing tons of stuff but not being able to do it.

For the flourishes, I would say diffrent "schools" exist. if you'd like to throw a nice fancy one-handed cut between two effects, or things like that, go with the Buck's system. Very nice things in there. If you want to go into more advanced (and difficult) moves with cards, sepcial figures, and s.o., take a look at the book "encyclopedia of card flourishes" (there are some performances videos that you can get with the book, I think.)
Jonathan. PS, For tht TT, I agree completely with KenW. Nonetheless, a "discrete" TT could help you to gain confidence. But you'l have to walk around some magic shops looking for the one whose color match your skin. You cannot predict if it will be the cheap one, or the expansive one. just luck. |

Kim, as you are going to Magic Weekend I suggest you save your money, you can try one on there and get one who fits perfectly. At first, I did the mistake of not doing that, I bought 5 thumb tips before I got one I liked, haha. And guess what, that one doesn't fit me anymore, my hands were still growing when I bought it, bad timing.
Flourish DVD, pretty much everything out is good really, except showoff with cards. I suggest you try the system out. Can you do the one handed revolution cut anymore? If you can do that and basic sybils you have all the basics down that is needed for the system in my opinion. (If you know OHR you off course know charlier.) Cap cuts 2 aka recapped, I am not sure about that one, I were going to buy it first myself as well but I changed my mind. Why? Well, you see a huge display with 16 packets, then what happens? Nope, not a neat closer, all is just dropped down in your hand like a mess. Let´s see, try getting your hands on Showoff 2 by brian tudor, great material in there. When Generation Xtreme comes out, get that one. The moves are pretty hard but not hard like balancing on your head doing a 8 packet aerial with your feet or something like it seems on penguin, they are just a little hard to begin with. But get The system and Showoff 2, that is my advice yo.

Cradle to Grave is an awesome package! It's not just a DVD like you may think. Upon purchasing it you receive access to a forum that contains 18 bonuses. Not to mention the kick-ass moves on this UNDERGROUND dvd. There is stuff on this package that will satisfy a beginer, and give the pro's something to work on (as well as somehting to put in there shows). All in all..Get CTG.

Why bring that up? Do you guys want to bring it on yourselves? They probably actually don't care anymore, which is good. They know this place isn't for them and their time is better spent elsewhere. I'm glad of that and for them.
MagicKim: As they say, itt really is about personal preference. You got (in no particular order) de'vo, jerry, dan & dave, tudor, cap casino to name a few. You can find trailers for most of their material so you can check them out for yourself to see what you like.

Oh, but the Magic Café is the designated battleground area between the X-TREME and non-extreme card manipulators. What would Pasteboard Frolics be without all of the petty infighting? People love arguing online.
