I've been a follower of magic for many years now, and regularly purchase $100's worth of magic books and tricks but have never performed anything in public!

I am intrigued by the art of magic but am concious that I don't put in the time to practice and perform the tricks as well as I think they should be for an audience.

Anyone else like this or is it just me?

I've been lurking here for a while and have decided that it's time to break my habit and pluck up the courage to perform something for my girlfriend/friends!

We all have a time and place to step out into our moment of performing!

I think that once you see the smile of wonder and wide eyes of astonishment, you will wonder why you waited.

Now, get out there and put those $100's of trick to work!

I'm going to start with some simple 'impromptu' tricks. I think I've got CMH to a presentable state, and am working on Color Monte.

I think I'm probably my own worst critic though so I always feel I could be 'just that bit better' before I take it public

um.....yes?

All artists are their own worst critics...and it is good to see you taking it so seriously, most people I know who tried magic would rush out and try to perform within five minutes of reading their first book. Good luck for when you take that step.

It is time to begin !!! Please be encouraged for perfoming. We all the Café members are here to help you, if we can. Please keep in mind that nobody is born as a magician... But becomes one throughout the time. So why not start now ??? To calm down a little bit and to prevent a little bit nervous about performing, let me serve you a cup of strong Turkish Coffee on my bill.

But, eventually, you have to do it.
(Well, you don't HAVE to; but you should!)

Copterchris... Don't sweat it man... at least you don't go out performing the tricks too soon and blow the secrets!! I think it's great that your takin' your time but I really think that you would experience an even greater joy when you finally start performing for others... perform a few tricks for your close family and friends and then move on from there. Good luck man!! and
