I've just been given a new InFocus Projector. A really good powerful little one.
I would like to integrate using this medium into my stand-up/comedy show somehow... Already have a few ideas including some kind of David Nixon-ish routine where you can communicate with a version of yourself on a big screen, and do a trick together... Or perhaps it could be used to complement the show and perform a few routines outside the confines of a room/theatre. Has anyone used a projector in his or her show? -malini. |

Malini...
We currently use two projectors in our show. Depending on the venue we either shoot it onto two fast up DaLite screens or our main preference is we rear project the two images onto our sharktooth scrim backdrop. We use video to open our show and go into our opening production, as part of Kristen's snowstorm routine, our message invloves video, our origami opens with video, and we project live footage of several of Kristen's escapes. Hope that helps, let me know if there is anything we can help with. Kevin

Thanks for the reply. Your show sounds interesting. I like that you're using lots of different multi-media, and keeping up with technology. I’ll be playing with my projector over the next few months, and working out some uses for it during my show. Right now, the only thing I’ve been doing with it is playing movies on the wall of my living room… :-p -malini. |

I helped Canadian Illusionist Murray Hatfield with the design of his opening sequence which uses a video screen. It opens with a montage of his illusions from previous tours then the last shot is Murray walking towrds the camera from far away in a white studio. He continues walking until he is life size on the screen at which point he brings his hands to his chest and makes a tearing motion with his hands so they are extended. At the exact same time the screen splits right where his hands were and there is Murray. In a sense he steps right out the center of the screen and begins his show.

Projectors are handy for playing movies and video games on your living room and hotel walls. I mainly use mine with a static camera set-up to project the show for larger venues. Clients have been very pleased with that because sometimes people at the back can't see everything that is going on. So it makes for a bigger show and also adds to the production value. Plus, you can ask for more money when you have a bigger set-up...
