Hey Daniel,
Check out http://www.escapeguy.com There is a promo section with a couple of video links. There is some footage of the escape in action under one of them. Best, MM |

Everything said above, about the neck and pressures on it, is absolutely true. It only takes a couple of seconds to go out, lose all bodily control, and if you were in a hanging situation, empty your bladder and bowels, break your neck, and maybe die.
Study of anatomy and physiology (for those of you who don't) is an extremely useful thing. Having said that, there's an old sideshow stunt called The Man Who Can't Be Hanged, which involves having a bunch of big guys have a tug of war, with the rope wrapped around your neck. If you can track down someone who knows it (and very few of us know the real work) there's much to be learned, that can be applied to an escape like this. If the person you ask for information, doesn't have at least a year of solid work in this, don't even bother to ask another question. This is a highly dangerous and specialized stunt, and to learn more, you should evaluate your education budget.

I did the "Combat Ki" thing for many years and know the tricks to this, but advise against it.
In the above routine I provided, I should have made clear that the restraint is a quick release type, When the blind is pulled down, before the light is on, you take the noose off your neck and hook it to the harness. With only shadows they really can't tell if it is on your neck or not. |

Mark makes an excellent point about using a blind.
Years ago I made a decision not to use anything that was obviously a cabinet, so I tend not to think of that.
