If one wanted to do a routine similar to Bill Malone's would the Haydn Set be ideal or should one go with the regular black/white set? I would think that using the Mogar/Haydn set would get more of a reaction since the handles are of different texture (am I wrong in thinking so?).

Personally, I don't think you are wrong. A change in texture give people something else happening that is interesting - never a bad thing. Keep in mind also that the Mogar Knives are very easy to handle - another plus. But remember that it is your personal presentation that will make or break the actual performance!
Whit's knives may be used for the Malone routine, if I remember the routine correctly (and I think I do). When you say "a regular black/white set" that leaves a number of possibilities open that will be hard for Café members to answer specifically. There are lots of 'em. Basically, the Mogar knives are the industry standard. Why not order them from a reputable online dealer who stocks a variety of Mogar knives, or perhaps from Mogar himself. Check out the return policy. If one set is not to your liking, exchange them for another.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I think it is always worthwhile to have at least three knives. This enables you if you have the want or need to pass out both knives. In a color-changing routine, the audience really wants to look at the knives.
My routine is not a color-changing routine, rather it is about the two knives transposing places and disappearing. Still I like changing in the solid black for the solid white in the middle of the routine so that they get an unequivocable look at both sides of the black and of the white knife. |

Guys,
I appreciate help with the CCK's. I finally did it, I called Joe today and ordered myself a set of 3 Stag/Haydn Knives with a VC Knife & the Merrill Knife Book. I cant wait to get my hands on them. Thanks again, :D |
