I woulod like to be more wacky like you David. I admire the wackiness of Canadian magicians in general. I sometimes wear a plaster on my cheek even though I havent got a cut that is how wacky I am.
Should I move to Canada to improve? can it be learned? Best wishes, Chris |

Hi Chris,
"Being more wacky" isn't really a productive goal. Wackiness, silliness, zaniness, and their inbred cousins, cookiness and nuttiness, are generally very difficult to pull off in an entertaining fashion. The rule of thumb is that it's fun to watch a smart person acting stupid, but it's painful to watch a stupid person acting stupid. That's why Steve Martin is a legend and Pauly Shore is a distant memory. Having said that, there's no reason you couldn't work on being funnier (even if you're already pretty funny to begin with). Just try to be true to your character and make sure the humour fits. |

Michel,
Anyone making that Steve Martin/Pauly Shore juxtaposition is brilliant! 0pus |

David I am a very funny person, everbody tells me I am a very funny person. I also am intelligent so I guess that is why my wackiness is well recieved. My job is a very dull one so I use my wackiness to intesperse the day. My collegues receive it well.
I hope to one day go full time with my wacky comedy magic but I need to increase my nutiness quotient. I am a big fan of your work and look to you for inspiration. Yours trully, Chris |

Really like your Martin/Shore analysis there...
Out of curiosity, do you think a smart person acting smart can be funny? Or how about a dumb person acting smart (not sure if this is possible though) |

Dumb people can most certainly act smart, I do it all the time.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.
