Hi guys!
I'm used to working with your regular tissue type flash paper but recently bought flash paper from Hong Kong magician Alan Wong and they're very nice. The problem is that it's thick...like diary paper type thick. Furthermore, it takes longer to burn (by about a few micro-seconds) which means I can't use it for Floating Rose as it will burn longer and therefore fall to the floor prematurely. Another thing is that it's loud. I know it sounds funny, but it's loud, the flash ends with a loud WHOMP. It's impressive, but I mostly use flash paper for Floating Rose and In A Flash. This would work well with In a Flash actually as the flash generated by this type of flash paper is considerably more brighter than regular flash paper. But anyway, my point is, how many types of flash paper are there? I've seen Joe Monte use a really slow burning flash paper (with not much flash) to produce his cigarette in his Vaudeville routine. Plus it burned with a more red flame than yellow. So I know different types do exist, but just want to know more about them. Any info would be great! Take care guys, Logan Update: Hmmm... I also saw flash paper that when ignited gives of sparks and a flash. That was kinda cool. Please correct me if I have made any mistakes in my observations. But to my knowledge all I have seen is true.

Well, besides the actual paper, there is flash cotton and flash cord. Flash cord gives off sparks, and flash cotton burns slower than flash paper, and I believe gives off a redish flash. I for one would be interested in hearing about more of these papers as well. Was it maybe cotton and cord you seen as well? I am highly interested in the paper you refered to in your first post. I have a routine I am putting in my flash paper booklet that could use it... Anyone?

Finally a reply!
Well, I'm quite sure it was paper form the ones I saw. The sparks given off from what I'm not quite sure - saw it on a stage show... Anyone else know about this?

I made a post a little bit ago about what the sparks were as well. I was told by numerous people that if you put some "Sparkle Additive" in the flash paper and staple the flash paper and then light it. It creates sparkles as well as a little flash. Sometimes it might be all sparkles. Hope this helps.

Logan,
Can you provide a link or source for the thick flash paper from Alan Wong ? There is another post here in the forum, this sounds exactly like what somebody was looking for. I've never run across different kinds of flash paper, it all seems the same from what I've seen. AFAIK, there's just flash paper, cotton, string/cord, pads (which are just smaller pieces of flash paper in a pad),powder, and sparkle additive. Daytona magic has one of the best selections of fire magic around, if you poke around there you're bound to find whatever.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.
