I work almost exclusively with coins and want to apply back clipping and other edge-dependent coin sleights to ball vanishes. Obviously, the shape of a ball doesn't permit certain types of back clipping. Does anybody make chop cup balls with fringe or other loose material which can be back clipped?
Bill Palmer, I'm sure you would know this, if anybody does.

I make chop cup balls out of felt (wool).
You can do just about anything with it and also use different shapes. Here's a link Photos And one of plain old felt balls http://www.theambitiouscard.com/balls/balls.cfm There you can see on one of the photos where I made a felt olive. The ball can be made with tight cover or a loose cover. Something to consider.

Shaggy Wool! There are also some with rubber spikes that are soft like a rubber band.

Cloneman...can't help you with back clipping but EG works well for color changes as does mutobe. fakini balls or other smallish rubber balls work well. otherwise a loop ball.

If it suits your style, check my sig line for a link to some 1 1/4 suede leather balls. They almost stick to your hands. Palming is a breeze, but I admit I haven't tried any backpalming with them.

Cloneman,
Visit the toy department of a mega pet store. I can't believe that they waste some of this good stuff on Fido. Magicians should have first choice! (We have credit cards.) Some that I found particularly interesting had soft raised ribbing on them. Go take a look. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Bob Magic By Sander |

You might be able to do a modified backp*** with certain sizes of balls. Edge grips are difficult to imagine, due to the lack of "edges." Some of the mini baseballs have a raised area that might be just large enough to be frustrating.

Leather monkey fist balls may also work. I use Jim Riser's and they are very easy to palm. Frank makes them as well.
