Amazing how going directly to the source can end confusion. Thanks, Pete.

No need to get snippy, Bill. I didn't post a source because 1.) I didn't want to name drop and 2.) I didn't mean to imply that I was confused or stating it as a fact, simply tossing in what I thought I heard to see where McComb figured into it.
Thanks for asking Billy, Pete. It was Tom Ogden that told me this and I have obviously mis-remembered what Tom said. Tom had it right, I just remembered it incorrectly as 'thin model.'

My intent was not to be snippy, but to prevent confusion. This section of the forum is about history. You can't "do history" without sources. Otherwise, you have the same kind of confusion that occurs when people misinterpret April Fool's gags and start spreading the word that Microsoft has bought Apple.
Knowing what a source is often can lend a certain amount of credibility to the information. When a person says, "I heard that ------- ." it means nothing unless there is a source.

Didn't Billy first do the double sawing using a man and a woman? TA Waters encyclopedia credits him to having first done it in 1961 and performing it on British TV the next year.
I think Channing Pollack's credit goes to the now standard performance of two girls getting sawn and mixed up restoration. Matt |

The longest it has been closed was about a month, I think. The future of the club is somewhat shaky, though. Houston Metro owns the land behind it, and was going to put another rail line there, but various people in the Metro organization have discovered that the power of eminent domain is very heady, so they want to condemn a whole bunch of private property that doesn't particularly need condemning, and build a rail line about a half mile away from the land they already own. If they don't use the land they bought, Magic Island can remain open a while longer. But I fear that the days of the bigger name acts is long since past.

Thanks for letting us know.
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.

Bill is right about it,
Thiany tells himself that he has got the illusion from Zati Sungur of Turkey. Zati Sungur was the first who has reduced dimensions drastically. The Thin Model Sawing in Half has been noted as his invention in many reputable sources. His daughter still has the documents of this and many other inventions. However we will need sometime to acquire the permission to collect and print them together. Any more questions may be addressed to me and if I do not know I will acquire answer and let you know about it.

Tora:
I would love to have a translation (into English) of the Web page at: http://abone.turk.net/sbasarir/ZatiSungur.htm I am trying to get enough information about Zati Sungar to expand on his biography on my Web site. Particularly, I'd like to list other inventions or innovations for which he is responsible.
