I am looking for a method of doing a one man spirit cabinet. No assistants to lift curtains etc. A point in the right direction would be great. Thanks to all in advance.

I've done the old bit where the medium is in a chair and covered with a sheet (by anyone)... it works well when staged right. I think it's in Corrinda or Annemann???

A true solo spirit cabnet is a tough call. You're going to at least need a spectator to tie you up/down. I suppose you could automate a curtain or door, but why not just draft a helper. It's not like they're going to see the method.

I think what one needs is an extra arm, of hand, if you get my drift, then you can hold up the sheet or covering yourself, hands in plain view, etc!

Rather like Abbott's Full Light Spirit Seance.

...And going through some files today, looking for something totally different, I run up on a photocopy from a book entitled "Club Performer's SPOOK ACT." Uncredited (Max will beat me), just a copy from a book. Uses 2 assistants from the audience and a folding screen. Possibly from some Abbots book, because it was with some other abbots material and the page numbers look the same.
PM if you want more info, and does anyone know where this came from, I hate have unnoted things in my files. Azrael

Think outside the box. What is the point of having a cabinet anyway? The old-time Wizards drew a pentagram on the ground and stepped into it for protection from the powers they unleashed. I do this all the time in my show, calling up poltergeists that wreak havoc in the audience while I appear to be in a trance safely in my pentagram... borrowing a bit from the old time "horror shows" that used to travel to movie theaters during Halloween season. No assistants are needed, just a lot of preparation. Then, know when to quit when you have the spectators really on edge. No sense having them wet their pants just for your enjoyment.
