Has anyone ever heard of Walter Shutz or seen him perform? He was born around 1890 and died around 1965-66. He performed Magic as `The Great Walter Shutz' (I have seen his bilboards/handouts). He traveled with his act for about 30 years in the north-central US and ended up in Texas. As an `old-timer', he lived in a mobile home park and did magic for the park in exchange for his rent. Sad!
About 5 years ago, I was given his `magic trunk' by Mr Shutz's grandson. It was passed to me because I did magic and the family knew I would keep Grandpa Shutz's memory alive by using his items. Much of the tricks were home-made. Most I have figured out and some I'm still working on. I have tons of notes, old (1940s) patter booklets, and drawings. The neatest thing I found was a personal letter to who ever his box was passed on to. The grandson read the letter and that's when he decided it should go to me.
Any information about this man would be greatly appreciated. Even the family is in the dark about much of this Magi's life.

Great story. But sorry to say I never heard of him. Maybe the IBM or SAM could check some records, and it would give you a starting place.

There might be some articles for tricks that he wrote in the various magazines. I do very vaguely recall that name. It might have been Sphinxes or early Linking Rings.
