Well.,. here's the story I heard.,. just thought of sharing with you guys.,.

Jerry Nugget is a casino and well.,. it closed down.,. and there were like 40,000 decks from the casino left.,. and one magician bought most of them.,. to my knowledge, its dominique duvivier (sorry if I spelled it wrongly) and yeah.,. flourishers like lee asher and buck twins sort of popularised it.,. cos they were perfect for flourishes cos they tend to stick together and the design was just too sweet.,. haha.,. personally in singapore, I own a deck.,. it was given to me by a friend.,. and I swear I am never gonna open it.,. haha.,. although its *just* a deck but.,. yeah.,.

I realize you couldn't use the brand name for copyright and trade mark issues, but surely the stock could be coppied as could a very similar design.

I wouldnt mind having a pack, but I am not crazy over them and wouldnt pay hundreds!

there is a VERY thorough discussion about this on the DND forum:;start=0

summed up:

some pple like jerrys for the way they perfom (the spreading-and-nonspreading-when-you-need-it thing). thing is, back when they printed them, there was something that happened with the ink where after a period of use it would wear off (this is bad for the casino) so they discontinued it.

some pple like them for the way they look. you have to admit, they are quite striking, and I like the way they contrast. however, the duvivier thing is true, and it's also true that many pple only like them bc some of the greats really like them and they wish to emulate. there isn't necessarily a lack so much as a lack to the public (already been stated). this is a big part of it, and also the fact that pple are willing to pay it

they can't reprint the stock of the cards bc of the ink thing. if you reprint the design slightly different though, you're detracting from the original beauty of the cards and the value they have to other collectors (someone might intentionally or unintentionally try to pass them as jerrys plus they aren't as special or exclusive if you will).

though apparently, there will be a reprint of them, bee stock, different design. my opinion is against reprinting. you might browse the link up there for real details of opposing views.

JN cards are the best. at first I wondered what the big deal was then I picked up a deck and was like wow. they are of their own kind.

They are very stiff cards.... there are similar cards that's used by casinos today that are just as stiff and not too smooth.. its usually the same cards used for hand held card games.....

I have one single JN card. I recently bought Wakeman's expert card in wallet from someone here on the forum and it was in the pocket. Kinda hard to tell with just one, but to my knowledge, it is just a frickin' card. What are my bids for one single JN card, I believe it is a joker.

These cards are smooth, and not stiff, they bend and have a great feel to them. They fan beautifully, stiff cards don't. They have a nice weight. This is why these cards are so great. You describe these cards like bad cards that are really expensive. These are excelent cards that are expensive.

In my opinion these these cards definitley not worth a $100+ for a deck. I would spend $5.00 at the most for these decks

You all are completely missing the point of this thread, and it has degenerated into another discussion about the feel of Jerry's Nugget cards, just like the other 9000 threads about the feel of Jerry's Nugget cards.

I have reason to believe there are in fact, thousands of these decks out there. They're not rare at all! IT'S JUST AN ILLUSION. The reason they seem so rare is that everyone has a few decks on their shelf they're afraid to touch. People just buy them and hoard them, and maybe 4 magi and 3 flourishers actually use them in videos for "wow" effect (wow, those are expensive I can't believe he's touching them, he should have those on a shelf collecting dust somewhere).

This is exactly what these cards are about. I finally got a deck in my hands and they weren't great. I wonder why they are used in some video shoots.
