I thought it was a little overboard. Talking about Whit and all the other big dogs like that. Of course they are not going to give a F&^K about you when your bashing them on your website. Why should they care about someone who is just ripping them a new one over the web.

Chris, I think you misinterpreted the article. I think the author was being tongue-in-cheek and was actually praising Whit and the other elite magicians.

I think the answer is that these magicians, even the very successful ones, are just genuinely honest and nice people.
Also, magic is a relatively small community. Athletes and movie stars can become extremely famous, and that complicates their lives even if they are nice people. In addition to leading busy lives, they are under huge pressure from the media and often have little private time. Julia Roberts and Michael Jordan cannot respond to every piece of fan-mail they receive. On the other hand, most of the "big time" magicians are "celebrities" only within the relatively small community of magic. So if I contact Michael Ammar or Whit Haydn, I know that while they may be busy, there is some chance that I can expect a reply. And since they are such gentlemen, I do get that reply, even though they don't know who I am. |
