My routine is completely done in my hands. I also have the 'cowboy' persona, slow talking, easy to get along with style. My routine follows very much what I learned on an Ammar dvd, time misdirection. I put seconds between the time that I 'do' the effect and the time that the spectator sees the magic. In other words, load the ball (or vanish it), say a couple of things, THEN show the loaded (or vanished) ball. That slows down the routine but I think makes it more magical. Every single vanish or production is done exactly that way in my routine. I can only say that I've never performed it without getting the response I want.

Rikbrooks, I still think you should consider a second load as mentioned at:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/searc......=4046104 BTW, I liked your presentation of your routine on that vid you provided earlier..nice one..

Werner, thanks, I read that message and have thought about it. There are a couple of ideas that I've had.
One was to produce two eyeballs as one final load. I like the idea of lifting the cup and two eyeballs are rolling around in the hand. My probkem with that is that one eyeball doesn't fit under the cup, I have to cup my hand to make it work. It would be almost impossible to do without reducing the size of the eyeballs. Remember, I already have one ball engaged in the cup and since it's a mini cup the engaged ball takes up most of the space inside. I'm playing with the idea of pinkie palming one behind the cup while loading the other, but I need to find a holder for it since I can't very well palm one eyeball for the whole routine. Another idea is a more traditional double load, but once I've shown the first eyeball I can't think of an excuse to go back to the pocket for the other. I'm playing with the idea of HANDING the eyeball to the spectator as a misdirection but I haven't made that work smoothly yet. So, it's just a matter of figuring out the best mechanics. I'm also playing with sleeving the second load. I've had the best results with that so far, a little magician's wax helps keep the second load on the watch band and just out of sight. I'm working on it. Thanks for the compliment. |

The current world's record holder, according to the Guiness Book of World Records, is an Asian magician, named "Ahn Too Long". The record time is currently 17 hours and 22 minutes. According to the record book, This included one meal break and 3 bathroom breaks.
To tell you the truth, I am not out to break his record. Regards, Paul Green |

Besides Don Alan's routine, are there other worth while Chop Cup routines to check out? I have a Chop Cup but haven't used it in years (Actually, I haven't done any magic for years).

There are some, but I would learn Don's first. It's brief and to the point. Everything in it works. If you can find a copy, get the book that Ron Bauer just wrote The Complete Don Alan's Chop Cup Routine. There is stuff in that book that is not available anywhere else. All the logic and reasoning behind each phase of the routine, for example.

If you can hold a captive audiences attention for the maximum duration with a few effects and make them want more, you'll have less to lug from show to show. Some performers have such wonderful personalities, one effect could carry the show.
In American football, the actual playing time averages around 6-7 minutes... yet, the game takes over an hour (or two) to complete.
POOF!

Thanks for the advice. I found Ron Bauer's book at H&R Books.
