I have a question...I'm about to buy blueprints of a "Monster Guillotine". Has anyone had the occasion to build one? If so...any suggestions or warnings?
Thanks |

I'm not positive, but I do believe that Chuck Jones' wonderful Guillotine & Galloes (ala Will Rock) is for sale... I know someone just mentioned this and another piece to me in the past couple of weeks... you may want to check out Magic Auction and see if it is listed. Trust me, this thing is very tricky (no pun intended) not just to build, but to perform correctly... the potential danger is high!
Another thing to consider is buying the Byron Wells Illusion Plan books... they have two or three different Guilotines in them, including a version of the Rock MONSTER. If you want one that allows the head to fall off... it may be to your advantage to tap Bill Smith and some of the other builders on the shoulder... I know they frequently have "used" pieces from Halloween Haunts that are available for cheap and look really cool. |

Excellent! Thanks....I dunno what the official opinion is by all the magicians out there...but I could definitely see this in the top-5 most dangerous illusions.

Are you presenting this an an Illusion or as an Escape?

As an illusion. It's planned as being a "shocking finale" to a show my colleagues and I are discussing.

Head staying on or falling off?
If you're willing to put in the bucks, Abbott's Giant Guillotine is as spectacular, safer and looks more like a traditional guillotine. Steve
