Today's topic is relevant because of criticisms for past syntax and or spelling errors. I welcome all commentary. It gives me simple pleasure to know that I have made a few of you think and speculate.
Some of you aspiring entertainers, might have misunderstood my previous posting. I didn't say to outright create a lie about your backround. I merely stated, that if your background isn't particularly interesting, find a way to make it so. P.S. I love Mark Twain! * A solid education will help YOU! Where and perhaps when you went to school should only be one line in your newly created biography. If you consider yourself creative, you should add a little business expertise. For instance, learn how to balance your checkbook, invest judiciously, read contracts and obligational duties. Here is a tangential corollary: NEVER employ an attorney as YOUR agent. I urge you to absolutely never leave it to someone else to recall the details to which you have given an affirmation with your "John Hancock". The smarter and more savvy you are, the better off you shall be! Do not only carry this value for important details in your career. Let it carry you through the trivial tasks you decide to pursue. Here is a clue to wrap this up, in a nice little bundle, "How much more do we all love and adore Julia Roberts because we now know that she is an avid knitter in addition to being the world's top paid actress in show business? Stay tuned for the third installment. Please remain with me through this! You won't believe the literal payoff! Our next gem deals with Fame, Politics, The Military, and Entertainment! I LOVE each of you my children! High Fashion & Some Nice Company! Adieu & a Drink. Thanks for believing in my vision throughout my career! |

Well I'm going to be honest here
You will be infamous adelante but not famous If several hundred dollars is say $400 the 400 divided by 13 =$30 approx I would not pay you $30 for that terrible advice it is simply not worth it. At this point your advice is not helpful- I don't think I could be bothered waiting for the screen to load to read you next "HOT TIP" |

Well at least this installment of the Business Ramblings of a Mad Man made me laugh.
“I didn't say to outright create a lie about your BACKROUND”. Ok I hope you did that for my benefit. “I merely stated, that if your background isn't particularly interesting, find a way to make it so”. So what you are saying here is that you follow you own advice. In attempts to make your self feel more interesting and garner attention from the members of the Café you have decided to spew your literary ramblings upon us. Well until the next installment I will be “backround” later to see what you have to offer Huck.

I find it strange that Not So Easy and adelante joined withing a day of each other. Yep I think you are the same person or close buddies.
Just cos it's FREE doesn't make me sit up and go "ok free news I'll read it" I really think a teacher should tell who he is and not hide behind false names. If he is indeed famous then tell us who you are! |

I have tried all of my life to be famous. I figured I'd know it when I got to be on television. I have worked and worked at my craft for twenty years without grabbing the brass ring. I worked fairs, schools, cruise ships, corporate events, but alas, still no television. I was about ready to give up. But now, now I can truly say that I have made it and I am famous for I am going to be on television. Yes, after twenty years I am about to appear on the tube! All it took, and I can give you all this secret for free now is for me to: get a Mullett haircut, drink a case of beer every night, move into a trailer, and have sex with my wife's sister, mother, boyfriend, and dog. Now I'm going to be on Jerry Springer! I'm Famous!!!

The Café is such a wonderful place. What is it with people jumping all over a poster? It's their opinion, right or wrong. To become "famous" is an ambiguous term. I am famous in my area. Some people want to be famous nationally, or even internationally.
Let's respect each other. |

I still want to read what this guy has to say. Remember, if you get one good tip, it is the the price. And this is free!
It is to bad you negative posters do not understand what this person is saying or offering in the way of advice. |

I am always eager to listen and to learn from anyone or any source. Just as you can not judge a book by it's cover, it is also not right to judge anyone based on a single post. We can all agree to disagree and that is what makes the Café work so well.
Even if I may not personally agree with a post or an opinion expressed, I can at least be respectful enough to listen to the post, read it, learn and perhaps state my own opinion for some good discussion. Discussion can often lead to some great sharing of ideas. So open up your mind and allow people to post their thoughts and ideas freely. They may not be your ideas, but at least we might be able to have a good discussion about them. Kyle

Amen! And pass me that grain of salt, please.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

Oh, I certainly agree with THAT! A large grain of salt even. Hehehehe!
The point: Simple really... "HumanKIND", not Human MEAN and Nasty. I'm not sure anyone is saying the all this isn’t a big bunch of huuy either, but that should in no way, give us free license to be rude, condescending and mean spirited to one another as if any one of US “Walks On Water”? I know I don’t. How about simply "Agreeing to Disagree, Agreeably?" or take it for what it is; "entertainment". Even better yet, ignore what we don't find useful for each of us... novel concept eh'? Can we have a Hallelujah! Just sharing out loud... I am at your service and In HIS Service, Deano <= Never Passed a “Walking On Water Class at The YMCA” <><

If my post came across as mean I apologize. I too agree that one should not dimiss something for everything has something of value. My point was that fame is a word that should be better defined. In this country many people are famous but for the wrong reasons. Our culture somehow glorifies that which perpetuates immoral and unethical behaviors. Not in all cases but in many. The need to latch on to the golden ring and win is instilled in us at an early age. This has resulted in the breeding of many victims and predators. However, I too want to be successful, whatever that means to me. If that means famous to others than that is what it is. Once again though, I am sorry if my post seemed mean spirited. I apologize to you all especially adalante.

Your share was fine brother... very good points even!
Myself nor anyone else here is saying that they are "The Morality Police". Contrary to popular belief, there is NOT one among us who has the authority to "Point The Finger of Contempt and Condemnation" on ANY OTHER here or elsewhere. Unfortunately, as of late (Like here and the Dave Dee Posts... Not the ONLY, just two random examples.) seamed to veered off course with some of our shares as some sort of elected prosecutor, judge and jury. I know that I am certainly in no position to "cast the first stone", nor is ANYONE else, but somehow we seam to have a messy pile of rubble where there used to be a beautiful glass house. - - That's all. The exact SAME hammer and tool sets that are used to build stunning homes and communities and lives can, if we are not careful, be used to harm, mame and destroy. I'd rather see us use these tools to BUILD rather than tear apart. In this example, if you don't like what you read here, you can CHOOSE to leave your jack-hammers in the truck along with the rest of tools. That is just common courtesy and common sense? NO, no one is suggesting that we can’t disagree… of course not. That would be silly, BUT we CAN (here we go again…) “Agree to Disagree, Agreeably!” - - I thought it was obvious. It's that "Human KINDNESS" thing for me. => The Golden Rule: "Treat Other As You Would Have Them Treat You!" …or better yet, => The Platinum Rule: "Treat Others BETTER That They Would Treat THEMSELVES!" Pretty simple really. I am at your service and In HIS Service, Dean <= “Lives in a “Glass” pool house up to his ears in water!” <><

I have to say that someone beat me to the punch and was probably a lot nicer than I was going to be... I have to say that reading all the "negative" posts were making me sick... Here we are, in the Magic Café, where there is a blinking icon on top of every page saying "Magicians Helping Magicians"... Our posts are our opinions... Most of which are based on our experiences... I was getting fed up with the attitudes that people were allowing to display... Is that the attitude that we let show through in our professional lifes... However we appear on stage is how we need to appear everywhere... You never know where your next client comes from... As we live in a very small world... Imagine that you are someplace and you get all ****ed off about something and make a scene... Lets say down the road you get a call for a potential gig... Imagine that the person wanting to hire you was a patron at the place you caused a scene (even a small one is noticed)... Do you really think you are going to be hired...
People always ask me why I always smile... It makes you more approachable... When you just completely bash somebody's opinion, does that make you more approachable... We are supposed to be a brotherhood... We should be trying to do what that blinking icon says we should be doing... Imagine a "newbie" reading those posts... Do you think they are ever going to want to offer their opinions... If I were to even post or talk to the magicians out there about how to make themselves better performers... I'll tell you right now that only about 5% of them would agree with me... And 5% would actually take a look at themselves with an open mind... That's because the other 90% fit into exactly what I am saying to not be like... Just remember that we are always "performing"... Even in a place such as this... I think I've rambled enough... So if anybody would like to ridicule what I say or my poor grammar and or any spelling errors... Please do so... Send all of those to this email address: Complaints@TheTrickster.net (subject: Magic Café)... And yes, it's a real email address... So the next time you find yourself bored and not agreeing with what somebody says, simply state that you don't agree... Just make sure that you fully understand what they are trying to say though... Don't bash on people... You give us magicians a bad rep... Especially since other peoples perception is reality... Thanks for taking the time to read and sorry about the length of the rant... If I had posted last week as I was planning, it would have been much longer... RDS
