I saw a post further down asking "who is the best stage magician" but I would like to know who do you think is the best manipulator? After seeing Mahka Tendo an the Blackpool Convention this year he would get my vote any day. And also his lecture on manipulation was amazing. I hope he is there next year because I would love to see his maniplation routine again. If you haven't yet seen Mahka Tendo's routine you're missing out and I can honistly say it blew me away.

!!!Makha Tendo!!!

Tendo is very good and I have had the honor of seeing his act and talking with him on many an occassion. I also know he will be doing his act at this year's SAM National Convention, so I look forward to that.

He also has a video out of his entire act and I bought it several years ago. It is always great to watch it and gain insight and motivation from it.

I also think an amazing manipulator and creative thinker is Topas. If you have ever seen his act and his wonderful show, you will know what I am referring to. I also love and admire the work of Shimada.

I am from The Netherlands and I think FRED KAPS should not be overlooked as a very good manipulator.

I would list in no particular order..Torkova, Mahko Tendo, Dale Salwak, Jeff McBride, Earl Ray Wilcox, Neil Foster, Bill Baird, Ger Copper, Romaine, Cardini and Fred Kaps. Those are just a few that I thought of.

A couple others that might surprise some people Tim Wright and Jeff Hobson. Hobson did a heck of a Billard Ball routine. Stuart McDonald also does a good turn as does Dennis Haney.

A lot of these names are card guys and women... I think to have the title of "master manipulator" you need other things than cards.. Its getting OOOOOOLD

Topas... for sure...one of the best

I will second that vote for Topas. He is simply an amazing and creative thinker who has put manipulative magic into totally different realms. It is not just a magician trying to show off skill alone. He has learned to create intricate storylines that the manipulations work around. The guy even manipuates sound and that is an awesome routine in its own right.

Don't forget about Shimada (hope the spelling is right). He has the whole package:
the look, the skills, and stage presence is out of this world. His billiard ball routine is by far the best I have seen. Remember to be the best, people always forget about showmanship.

Shimada was simply an expert at manipulation. I have his lecture note tapes and videos. On it it shows him at an early age doing a billard ball routine. It was simply amazing. He then goes on to show some awesome moves that are just ingenious.

Cardini and McBride are my personal favorites. I should also include Jeff Sheridan since he taught McBride and he was able to do card manipulation, etc. on the street and surrounded. All time favorite would be Cardini since he invented so many moves we use today and his character was brilliant.

Let us not forget the wonderful Norm Nielsen, his card fans and coin productions are the best I have witnessed, not to mention his original Floating Violin and Coin Ladder.

Mr. Electric Light bulb act is surely original and fits in this catagory.

I'm not a manipulator myself, but I'd second Cardini, Fred Kaps and Lance Burton.
