I don't believe Carl Lewis's (?) Strolling Magician video is that good but their was an interesting performance of the linking bands where you would have the spectator hold one and move it around and cause it to penetrate. In his patter he unlinks it as he points to the spectators fingers and says something like, "you have to be sure not to get it hooked on those two fingers." The timing is great and the spectators have a delayed reaction each time I do this with them.
I agree with everyone's take on DC's handling of the effect. I too remember the first time I saw it performed. It was on Larry King and I taped it and must have rewound that thing a hundred times and could not figure it out to save my life. Even when I learned the secret in "Elastrix" a manual of rubberband magic, I was still humbled by his smooth handling. Incredible. |

Hi Guys,
You may want to check out Chris Kenners Out of Control book in which he explains a rubber band linking routine called missing link. I haven't seen the copperfield version but Chris Kenner works with DC as a technical advisor and you may find this is the same routine. I use this regularly and it's a superb handling, very smooth. Enjoy Linkster |

I use part of the Michael Weber's version from 'Live Savers' to open my close-up show and it is very strong.

I agree with linkster Chris kenners linking rubber bands is the way to go, and there is no gimmicks and the bands can be handed out.

You can also hand out the "linked rubber bands" and people are amazed, because it is in the magical state (i.e. linked)
and there no way this could of happened. |

Check either Dan Harlan's rubber band magic or Ammar's book The Magic of Michael Ammar. They both explain the effect.

I learned from the Harlan video. The easiest method for me even after watching several magicians do it close-up. Dan Harlan is an excellent teacher.
