Colin,
I've also enjoyed the Bat quite a bit. I like the fact that you can easily clamp it on the knee of your pants while you're sitting at a table. I mostly work with silverware but yes, the ring routine is good, too. UJ |

I love my M5 and I have never had a spectator say that's a m****t. I avoid using metal objects.
Dave, I too am from the Uk, use new 2p coins as they attract. I carry mine in my pocket when I'm working and levitate things when I am sitting. The only problem I have is when I walk across the dance floor I feel my pocket sticking to guy car keys in their back pockets, they quickly turn round thinking I'm touching their ass.......NOT GOOD! |

When I first was getting into magic I bought a Bat as I, too, was swallowed up by the claims in the ads. These types of devices are tricky, magically speaking as it is always one of the things a spectator will suspect, however illogical the situation. I had some fun with it but once permanently stopped my bosses watch. I was cocky and had tried the effect with other watches to no apparent detriment. I learned with this experience that not every watch is the same. My boss forgave me but I still feel somewhat guilty having abused a powerful gimmick like that. Since then the Bat has sat quietly in its box at the bottom of another box. Maybe I'll get it out again one day but in the meantime I'll work on my double-lift and my top change, which are far less likely to ruin someone's property.

I got a Raven for free when I bought my M5. I think I've had more use out of the Raven, although I'm currently working on some ideas using shimmed matches. The advantage that the Raven has over the M5 is that the evidence is completely gone as soon as the object has been vanished.
I've been thinking recently of buying a leather wrist cuff. They seem to be very fashionable at the moment, and I can imagine hiding a neo-****** in one effectively without causing undue suspicion.
