Any music limits your audience. Any "music" that is liked by "everyone" is really liked by no one. Style is not a bad thing. Musak is.
I thought the lyrics were out of place for 30seconds. Then there's a pause, and it shifts to the "I will show you all you need to know." This FITS the image of a magician who shows things that amaze people. I would use it. However, I would ditch the first part, with the motel 6 and the devil and the description of a woman's body. |

Hehe thanks!!! You really nailed it!! I agree the woman's body is a little much, but for a hip hop song, its tamed. Thanks for actually taking the time and writting down the lyrics to help me!! Like I said I am thinking of changing songs for both videos. But I don't know what to use.. I don't want to be a generic magician and use techno or new age...

Just got a look at your video's. I know when your working on something real close you tend to be both, aware of all the details, and lost in all the details.
Personally I enjoyed it. Looks like you did a good job and now your fine tuning it in a mirror. Good job. |

Thanks for the kind words... you;re are totally right, we are dissecting them. Maybe thinking TOO much what people will think when they see them. Thanks for looking past the hip hop music!!

I wasn't even listening to what the words were actually saying; but just the fact there are WORDS, I find distracts me from concentrating watching the visuals.
Without the words would be better. Otherwise, it might seem that your magic performance is actually the background accompaniment to the vocal performance. |

Hi Eric,
I have just had a look at your video. I really don't think it's that bad at all. The only thing I might change is the soundtrack. Also there were a couple of parts (the bill switch in particular) where you did something but the resolution of the clip was too low to be certain what it was that occured. Naturally most magicians will recognise a bill switch but I think that it may have flown past some lay people. However I don't have a video on my site yet (too expensive!) so can hardly critise! All the best, Simon |

Hi Simon
don't worry about criticizing about the videos and not having any on your site, most of the people who posted don't either. Its all good, I asked for feedback!.. Which part do you assume costs a lot of money to post videos? I didn't have to pay one cent for the videos.. And plus it was fun. |

Hi Eric,
As someone who does have professional promotional video (though I haven't put it on my website), I'd like to second the recommendation that your video contain some complete effects with audio. It will be important for potential clients to see you speak and interact with your spectators. I think a little music video-like segment is okay, but you can't make it the whole thing. Give the viewers a little time to sit and watch an actual performance. Overall, the length was good. My videos are 5 minutes and 11 minutes, and I almost always just send out the shorter one. Out of 5 minutes, I have about 2 minutes that are stylized, with music, creative camera angles, cool transitions, etc. The other 3 mintues are performances with more straightforward camera work and VERY clear audio. If you do this yourself, PLEASE invest about $100 and get a wireless lavalier mike. It will make the video seem much more professional. I can't even imagine shooting footage using the camera mike. Sorry I don't have mine online to show you. I haven't figured out that part of it yet. (By the way, what program did you use to convert your video to wmv and rm?). Good luck. Your magic looks good. |

Thanks for the kind words....
we used Premier to convert the files... Then my website guy took care of them. I am currently working on a more professional video for the site, a real promo video, I didn't even think of having myself in real time talking to a crowd. I think its a good idea, makes sense... But to have a complete effect start to end? Could get long.. I think little samples of me talking to the spectators would be nice. What do you guys think about a voice over? Someone talking while the vids play "Let the magic of Eric leclerc ...." ?? I found a guy with the best voice I have ever heard live to do it for me.. Do you think its better than just music and clips of myself talking and performing? I am also thinking of getting a video just for restaurant magic.. Never seen it before and I think it would really help owners to see the benefits of a magician. |
