Should I get Generation Extreme or Generation X?
Other than these two, any other good Brian Tudor's DVD(s)?
I really want to learn What the Hell Happened to Sybil cut.
Thanks.

Extreme won't be out till April 18th.I would go for Gen. Extreme because it SHOULD have better teaching.

Gen x is crud. It doesn't even work well as a frisbee.

I've shyed away from his stuff just based on Jordini's comments over the past year or so. But my curiousity is getting the best of me. I guess I might have to take a look at Extreme.

If there is one thing that I despise in magic, it is people who think their "too cool" to give a decent explaination. I find no reson to keep some stupid macho persona when the only people viewing it are going to be magicians anyway, and these tapes are far from mainstream. Most of Tudors tapes do this kind of werid narrative kind of explanation with no conjunctions, completely useless and absurd. If the point is to teach, teach, don't just muble on while keeping some weird persona.

If you want to pay 50 bucks to watch 3 mins of pretty neat flourishes, and 2 mins of "magic" which has no patter and makes very little sense, then by all means, buy gen x, but your money would best be spent elsewhere. I'm sure if you REALLY want Generation Extreme you can wait a month and buy it on ebay from someone who is disgusted with it.

Tudor is very good at flourishing,What he tought on Generation X is very very hard,He is a flourisher more than a magicain. And he is the worst teacher I have ever seen. But I still learned some useful movie from his tape.

For Brian Tudor's stuff, basic flourishing background is needed in order for you to understand him.

Can't really comment on his magic...But...I really don't care for his attitude.
He may not be, but IMHO he comes across as very obnoxious and conceited.
Doesn't sound like he's much of a "teacher" to me.

Brian used to be a good teacher (in his show off series which I find was quite ok as he gave tips, etc)

But come Gen X, he couldn't really be bothered about teaching. Heckler was also the same, quite bad in terms of teaching and the effect is very much a challenge to the spec which we have always been advised not to. Let's hope Gen Extreme will be betta.

IMO I think he is jus trying to be a rebel in terms of teaching styles. Everyone has his own style. E.g, Buck Twins has one, Cap casino another, and De'vo his own teaching style. Althou not very easy to learn, but its still Tudor's own method and he is being 'recognised' for it. Jus look at the number of posts and despite people's complains, people stil buy his stuff. Reason cos his cuts are really nice and some are willing to put in the extra effort to learn them.

jus my 2 cents

cheerios

Let's put aside his insane cuts and flourishes with cards,

is his card magic really that good? Does his caliber of effects really astound people?

From the demo it looks like Generation Extreme might have some nice stuff for an ARC.

I have Gen X, Heckler, Show Off 1&2 and I preordered Gen xtreme. Other that the new one, I learned something from all of them. Gen X and Heckler do have boring monotonous voice overs during the insttruction and are hard to learn from for beginners but as long as you get something out of a DVD or video, I think it's worth it.

To answer your question gotmagic777 get the new one. I'm sure the teaching will be better.

I think Brian Tudors card magic is very very poor. It is flawed in thinking and in structure. Half the time he performs moves as magic. Rather than putting moves into magic. He side steals and palms and shifts just to do so, and it's supposed to be an effect. For the terrible routine in heckler "Where is it" or something like that, he just keeps putting a card in the deck, immediately palming it out and producing it at his side. His magic is garbage, and more along the lines of sleight demonstrations.
