This URL describes the muntjac variety that is in England. I've seen a couple of the varieties on the Indian sub-continent, and they're well, deer, and they DO make a noise that sounds something like barking.

Resemblance to a boar? I don't know. Sounds like a visit to the taxidermist might be in order.
