Michael Close has a CD rom teaching the faro and it is the best in my opinion. One little technique he taught was the key for me learning the faro.

The faro shuffle means to mix every other card of the paquet but there are a lot of variations, the most simple and easy for me is the in the hands faro, but the faro can be done with one hand, so I second Ackerman advanced card control series dvd. One volume focused on faros.

There are many dvds which teach the faro.
The best is IMO The ackerman dvd where he only teaches the faro shuffle from beginning to end 60 minutes detail. second source would be Michael close closely guarded secrets cd. |

I prefer Michael Close's Faro Shuffle CD.
It is the best video resource available in my opinion. I also have the Ackerman DVD but prefer Michael Close's CD since it is more concise and he touches upon all the important points you need to know. He describes things very well. This CD will get you up and running very quickly. Regardless of the video source it takes practice to get the nack but is well worth the effort. Good luck and I wish you the best. Kind regards, Rich

As regards difficulty, put it this way - the Faro DVD is the only one in the Advanced Card Control series where Alan Ackerman is wearing glasses.

If you are also wanting to learn how to table faro, then Steven Youell teaches Paul Chosse's excellent varient in Advanced Card Techniques in a very clear and thorough way.
Regards, Paul H PS If memory serves me, I also think Alan Ackerman dons his glasses for his ace cutting routine in the Card Controls DVD. |

Not enough room here to describe everything that can be done with it. And since we can't give methods, suffice to say it is a way of shuffling that perfectly and exactly alternates the cards from two packets as they interweave. It allows you to know where a card, several cards or every card in the deck is after each shuffle. Combined with a memorized deck, you can do some incredibly powerful stuff!

So far Ive jst gotten to know some of the possibilities with the faro,
but with the memorized deck..can anyone explain what it is? like..Do you actually memorize the entire deck..or parts of the deck, or are given cues and stuff like that? I'm still in the dark... |

Some of my favourite Faro Shuffle effects:
Allan Ackerman´s Impromptu Paul Fox (Extremely powerful effect) Marlos Original R or B Phantom Marlos Spade Routine Marlos Matching Routine (Looks impossible) Alex Elmsley's has several effects with faro shuffle. Alex Elmsley´s Collinspell David Williamson´s Aunt Mary's Terrible Secret Darwin Ortiz's Combination Cull is one of the most amazing effects you can do with Faro shuffle. Darwin Ortiz Deja Vu Poker Darwin Ortiz's Si Stebben's Set Up Secret (not an effect, a setup for Si Stebbins, use it when yo do stack effects) Darwin Ortiz´s Deja Vu Poker Derek Dingle's Mental Triumph Paul Gertners Unshuffled Martin Nash Ovation (this is a SUPER routine) The Two Detectives from Card College Harry Loraynes Interlaced Location (my first faro shuffle effect, easy to do) Harry Loraynes The 29th card, and Combination Aces Faro stuff in Harry Lorayne´s Close up Card Magic Racherbaumers Red Hot Mental Mamma Jeff Pierce by Power of Four Paul Swinford has a booklet called "Faro Fantasy" with several faro effects. Juan Tamariz book Mnemonica has some effects with faro. Faro stuff in Bruce Cervon's Hard-boiled Mysteries. Great Scott it's Magic - The Trilogy. My problem with the faro is that I just cannot get a perfect one consistantly. I am sure it is due to practice.

Practice, and try a new deck. I always used to be off by a few until I tried a new deck.
