I am voluteering my time in June in Indiana at a drama conference.
I will be teaching on puppets and magic. My queston is this: what tricks should I teach that are realtively inexpensive? Most people at the conference are voluteers at thier church, or on staff, and do not travel and do shows outside of the local assembly the attend. This will be the first time doing a lecture. Any advice? Thanks Mike |

The challenge is that you also must teach things that are not owned by others.
Go to some of the older magic book classics etc, and rope tricks are cheap and easy. Some card tricks like 8 card brainwave, are easy and innexpensive (you can make a number of decks from two decks of cards - one red, one blue) Torn and restored newspaper is cheap and relatively easy. Hope that gives you some ideas. BroDavid

I have written a magic lecture for beginners which I have presented for several years at FCM conferences here in Michigan. I used some material from Gary Ouellet's Close-Up Illusions book and tricks from a few other books (sources fully documented) to teach card control, card force, and double lift. I also teach a basic sponge ball vanish, in an effort to add variety.
Hopefully giving credit where credit is due is enough. I don't "own" any effects myself. The illusions I teach? - Packs A Wallop by Doug Edwards - Olympic Challenge from Ouellet's book The sponge ball routine I use is not explained, mostly because it would take too long. CSR |

You should try to supply them with a svengalli deck. The number of effects that can be done with that deck are almost infinite.Or maybe supply them all with thumb tips and silks.Good luck to you my friend.
