Hi, I'm looking for some comedy effects or effects with comedy potential that involve the whole audience, I think someone on another thread somewhere refered to them as macro effects.
an example would be the trick where you get all the audience to turn there arms round and to cross there arms and clamp there hands together. you then ask them to move specific fingers which proves to be hard, the magic part of it is at the end where you manage to untwiwt your arms without them letting go. (its hard to explain but ive seen this effect several times on tv). thanks, ollie |

Ollie,
With involing an audience, it's tough to win them over without first establishing yourself. You need to have them on your side and once you do this, they are putty in your hands. Usually I include them in on a whole audience chant, as in, Counting to 3 for a magic trick to happen, Repeating after me with a silly word of magic...ect. The crowds love the participation side of Magic and everyone does want to be involved even if they are hesistant. In one of my tricks I have the audience "hum", which sounds cool and brings on much suppressed laughter.(alot of jokes there) Also the "ok, everyone close your eyes",...that one can work nicely, because not everyone closes their eyes and you can play off that in a funny routine. As far as the whole crowd paticipating in a trick you might want to do one of the "Guess your number" games or maybe even pit the men verses women in a fun trick. If you find something better...please let me know. Best to you, Sonny Vegas |

This bit is not really magic but I have used it many times in my comedy act and it goes pretty good.
What I do is talk to the crowd about how I read in the paper that women are smarter then men and I just don't believe it. So we play a little game of trivia men vs. women. I walk through the crowd and have guys and gals pick trivia questions out of a bag and have them try to answer them. What happens is the woman will always pick a very simple question that they can answer and the men always pick a question that is so hard that nobody could ever get it right. You rotate back and forth. After a few times the laughs start to happen because the men are learning that they are set up. But no one understands why the men are the only ones getting the hard questions I also have some one keep score on a black board while this is going on. I ask about six questions a piece that seems to be a good number. Don't want to milk it to much. All you do is use a clear f**** bag. Now you can do this by picking people at random or you can do this as a group thing and have them yell out the answers. I hope I made this clear. Not really sure if this is what your looking for but it does play very well and is a nice break in the middle of a comedy magic act. You could also do the same thing with children vs. adults and make the children win. Dan
The power is within us all...I'm just a little more full of it.
