Does anyone know how many cruise ships there are? In North America Or even the world. In the 1980's I worked on a few different ships and back then there were probably less than 40- ships. I went to visit a ships agent in Miami. He showed me a wall of videotapes and he said "those are magicians tapes ; I don't have time to watch them and I only have two ships. I don't want to discourage anyone but wow was that an eye opener. I wonder if there are many more ships now

Hi! you might want to get a book "Berlitz Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships 2005" by Douglas Ward. It is the anual review of all the cruise ships in the world (and a very helpful tool for a cruise ship magicians as you get to know a little bit of what awaits you if you are going on a ship you have never been to). It also has quite detailed descriptions of all the showlounges on all the ships, as well as the show reviews (in general). My Cruise Director on a ship I have just returned from told me that they were scared to death when the author was visiting as he is a very sharp critic.
Anyway, you'd be surprized how many ships there are (literally hundreds) and even how many cruise lines there are!!! Wow lucky you guys, you have worked on many ships! I hope one day I will follow your footsteps! |
