Hello all!
I'm a mid 30s husband / father of twins who's just got back into magic for the first time since university. Like many, I started with the Royal Road to Card College, bought an Encyclopaedia full of Daryl, and then got me some Modern Coin instruction from J.B. Bobo, before investing in Michael Ammar products, not least some Great Cups. Also like many, I'd like my effects to be clean, strong and.... un-contrived.... I guess I really mean using every day objects for props (with the exception of C&Bs which I like classy - so that's how I'd like to do it). My current venue is the parlour (dinning room), and my current audience are inlaws and friends. I'm looking at joining a local club and would like to perform more "out there" just to improve my magic (already have a nice career that pays the bills). Want to learn all I can / maybe compete - no clear goal yet, still finding my magic foot-hold to begin the climb. Actually, strike that, my first goal is to get to 50 posts!! |

Welcome Pro-d,
Sounds like you're off to a good start in more ways than one. Don't be too concerned about getting 50 posts. I find that it's really not so big a deal, as many think it will be. Hope you enjoy what you find here. |

Hi Guy - Thanks for the welcome!
I'm quite new to this forum / posting malarchy, but it all seems quite straight forward. I've found the search - but not too sure if I can really be certain I'm not making a post which has been made before ? Don't want to annoy the regulars either - any advice / tricks / tips on searching out previous topics / posts by individuals in all topics, whatever ? Thanks in advance - JP |

Welcome to the Café. Just do a "word" or "title" search for the information you're looking for and you should see plenty of threads for your review. Good luck!
Nothing is truer than the incomprehensible, because the sum total of our knowledge consists of the fact that we know nothing. Our reality is an illusion. Thus illusion is reality-Punx

Just saying hi as I used to live in Derbyshire - lovely county! Is there anywhere that supplies magic in the area? I'll probably been camping there in the next few weeks & I know my son will want to root out any magic related links! I know there's a shop in Sheffield but then, that's Yorkshire.

Ya the 50 posts thing isn't really that big of a deal, though it is a nice little bonus. In my case, after I learned some of the card sleights, after watching a trick a couple times I can usually figure out how it is done, and I don't need to ask someone or look up directions.
