I'm am so psyched I stumbled upon this site! I really want to become a magician. It would give me an excuse to buy spectator shoes by the barrel!
What I really hope to get out of this site is some good advice for someone who will hopefully be starting out real soon. And, if anyone would like to be someone's mentor and hero, that'd be six ways from dillinger! hint hint mentor hint hint

Many thanks, m'lady. I like your dog! And your costume is real pretty, too!
My goodness. Canada/France? Awesomeness! I also would like to mention that I have always loved cards. I like buying them, I like holding them, I like shuffling them... Not a big fan of poker, though...

Hey bnd,
Welcome aboard the Café. I'm a fairly recent 'new member' here also. Let's see... you'd like someone to mentor you... I'd love to mentor someone who is seriously interested in performing magic, since I had such a mentor years ago. It changed my life. I gained so much knowledge about the nuances of magic and performing, it gave me the confidence level and the appreciation of the craft, which I never could have learned from books. This forum is great place to 'hang out.' You'll find many mentors here. So dive in and you'll find your niche. If you have specific questions about how to get started, you'll get a lot of advice. I'm here to help any newbies... I've been dabling in magic more than 40 years. p.s. I assure you that I'm not as pretty as Chrystal... but I do have a cute dog named 'Midge.' Dave
One good thing about being wrong...

Wowzers, everyone is so very friendly!
That's excactly what I'm saying! There are some things you just can't learn out of a book. It's like with dancing... Until you actually see someone do a basic lindy, you could read instructions word for word and still be doing it all weird. I really am serious about being a magician, and I really need a mentor. I just seem to be one of those people who needs all the help they can get. (My brother, on the other hand, he's the kind of person that seems to intuitively know how to do EVERYTHING!) Quote:

OK, if you start singing Eric Carmen we might reconsider.
Then again if you can name the group he came from you get 10 bonus points!
Was that meant to be edible?

Check out my blog: http://themagicsquare.blogspot.com/ specifically the May 6 post - I note my deep interest in music and its ties to magic. ...and yes, you can both have the bonus points. IMHO, The Raspberries were a highly underrated power pop band. Never really got their due.

I agree with your blog. Miles Davis... Did he do Take Five?
Hey, can anyone tell me about a song called "A Stranger in Paradise"? I have the original it was taken from on a classical album (Prince Igor... Polovstian Dances, Danc of the Maidens, I think that's what it's called), and I read about it (It came on the inside cover of a small book with info on the songs and their composers), it said it was popular from a stage and screen musical called, Kismet. The group Bond did a technofied version called Strange Paradise. Listening to both, I keep hearing something familiar, and I don't know why. My mom had similar feelings. Sounds familiar, but we don't know where from. We didn't see the musical. But I get where someone would sing, "... a stranger in paradise". Does anyone know if anyone has that song on an album? Who sang it? The lyrics?
